Completing Mobile Suit Gundam U.C. Engage's Story Quests is the easiest way to gather Diamonds. Clearing a story mission with a 3-star ranking will award 90 Diamonds. Clearing certain Story Mode missions that play FMVs of the series also gives the player another 60 Diamonds through Achievement Rewards.

Logging in consistently can get players up to 1,500 Diamonds every two weeks since Diamonds can be obtained from the game's Daily Login Bonus. New players can also get their hands on hundreds of Diamonds through the game's Release Celebration Login Bonus.

Clearing Daily and Weekly Missions is another excellent source of Diamonds. These daily and weekly tasks range from doing an activity a certain number of times to simply logging in and playing the game.

For new players, Panel Missions are a good source of Diamonds when starting out. These missions not only give out diamonds, but also gacha tickets that will let players pull for their desired mobile suits.

Joining a clan and clearing Clan Achievements will also be a consistent and reliable source of Diamonds.

Gundam U.C. Engage holds an event almost every week, and participating in them and clearing Event Missions will give hundreds of Diamonds. Don't miss out on these events to gain a steady income of Diamonds.

Phantom Ace is a series of single-player missions where players fight mobile suit teams of varying levels of difficulty. Winning them can reward up to 700 Diamonds a week, on top of being a testing ground for experimental Arena teams.

The Arena is Gundam UC Engage's PvP mode, where player-managed teams compete and climb the ranks. The higher a player ranks, the more rewards they get, which potentially includes plenty of Diamonds.

Amuro and Char Mode is a series of missions revolving around the famous rivalry between Amuro Ray and Char Aznable over the Universal Century timeline. The more missions cleared, the more free Diamonds will be obtained via cumulative Achievements.

The battles are very easy and tell the story of Amuro and Char's rivalry with various new cutscenes; the diamonds are a bonus. There's little reason not to do these missions.

Assuming that a player reaches the top 300 players within the Standard Arena and are part of a Level 20 Clan, they can get at least 10 pulls worth of free Diamonds a week, or roughly 40 to 50 pulls worth of Diamonds a month. However, this estimate can go higher or lower depending on factors such as the clan they are a part of (for example, some players have reported getting up to 2000 Diamonds from doing Clan activities).
Also, every time a new mobile suit comes out, there is always at least one new event. Its related achievements can give players anywhere between 3000 and 6000 free Diamonds. When starting out, the Story Mode and Char & Amuro mode missions should also give new players a healthy amount of Diamonds to build a good starting team with.

When all the farming methods are exhausted and a player still does not have enough Diamonds for that Extreme Limited MS Unit Assembly Banner (or any other kind of banner), then buying Diamonds from Gundam U.C. Engage's Diamond Shop can be considered.
The Diamond Shop has various packs for sale each month, giving players a 2,900, 6,400, 9,800, and even 10,000 Diamonds per pack. Some of these packs even give VIP points, which can raise the player's VIP level and provide them with access to different perks.
It is important to note that Gundam U.C. Engage's webstore also sells a greater amount of Diamonds for the same price. Players who log-in monthly to the store also receive 300 free Diamonds for the month as an added bonus.
