What Is The Crit Rework?

Crit Rework - Gundam UC Engage

The crit rework is a system update that was implemented with the 2025/2/5 update, which greatly improved critical hits. This dramatically improved the impact and value of crit-based mobile suits like the Gundam Ez8, Unicorn Gundam Perfectibility, S Gundam, and the like.

How Do Critical Hits Work Now?

Back then, critical hits didn't have much impact since they didn't have the ability to go over the damage cap set for mobile suits. Crits were extremely useful for newer players with low power levels. But critical hits would drastically fall off once their mobile suits got stronger and they're able to reach or come close to the damage cap without the crits anyway. At that point, crits were used to bypass an enemy MS's guard rate instead of dealing huge damage like they were supposed to.

Now, however, the extra damage dealt with critical strikes is inflicted on separate instances, artificially "going over" the damage cap. Another huge change is how crits now ignore a pilot's Resistance stat, so crit-based mobile suits will now shred through Armored mobile suits with high resistance easily.

Which Mobile Suits Are Affected By The Crit Rework?

Ez8 - Gundam UC Engage

The biggest winner of the crit rework is definitely the Ez8, thanks to its ability to grant its entire team both critical rate and critical ATK buffs. These buffs are much more potent for Bombardment mobile suits like the Zeong and the ZZ Gundam, so expect to see much more Ez8s and Bombardment mobile suits wreaking havoc in the Arena.

Mobile suits with built-in critical rates and critical ATK buffs are also affected by this change for obvious reasons. Mobile suits who are or were strong meta picks back then should make a resurgence, like the S Gundam and the Unicorn Gundam Perfectibility, while weaker crit-based MSs may still not be relevant like the Berga Dalas.

• A dodge tank capable of dealing high single-target damage on top of inflicting them with the Unavoidable debuff, which makes them unable to avoid attacks from its allies.
• Its defense is also something to behold as it has high evasion and charges up its EX gauge as well as the ability to heal itself each time it evades an attack.
Mobile Suit Gundam U.C. Engage - Gundam Ez8 Icon［M0238］ Gundam Ez8 Summary
• The biggest beneficiary of the crit rework. The Ez8 is on this team to improve all its allies' crit rate and critical ATK, but especially moreso for Bombardment units.
• The Ez8 will dramatically improve the damage output of the team's DPS units and allow them to bypass enemy guard rate and pilot resistances.
Mobile Suit Gundam U.C. Engage - Sazabi ［THE LIFE-SIZED v Gundam STATUE］ Icon［M0218］ Sazabi ［THE LIFE-SIZED v Gundam STATUE］ Summary
• The Yellow Sazabi is the best skirmisher in the game with extremely high beam damage, big lifesteal for sustain, and the Bullseye status effect, which ensures that each of its attacks land, even against ≥100% evasion.
• With the Ez8 by its side, even if it's not a Bombardment unit, it'll have the ability to land crits, boasting even more damage than it had before the crit rework.
Mobile Suit Gundam U.C. Engage - ZZ Gundam Icon［M0041］ ZZ Gundam Summary
• The ZZ Gundam earns a spot in this team because it's a damage Bombardment unit that can benefit greatly from having the Ez8 by its side. Its 2nd weapon, the 21-Tube Missile, shoots 10 hits twice and can deal humongous amounts of damage when they crit.
• When fully Transcended, this MS also has a 25% crit rate boost, which when paired with the Ez8, makes it very likely to land critical strikes.
Mobile Suit Gundam U.C. Engage - Zeong Icon［M0056］ Zeong Summary
• The most powerful DPS unit in the game, not just among Bombardments, but across all categories. Its AoE EX skill and high hit-count weapons, paired with its numerous beam damage buffs, make this mobile suit a DPS powerhouse.
• The Zeong already boasted huge amounts of damage before the crit rework. Now, with the Ez8 by its side, it's even stronger.
Mobile Suit Gundam U.C. Engage - Gyan Icon［M0317］ Gyan Summary
• The best defensive unit in the game not because of its stats or defense, but because it draws enemy aggro towards its allied Armored units. This buys its allied DPS units time to do their thing and deal damage without fear of retaliation.
