With the release of Gundam UCE's latest update in February, it's the perfect time to return to the battlefield. If you've been gone from the game for more than 3 months, you'll be in for a surprise as the game now has stronger mobile suits, a new game mode, lots of rewards, and an entirely different meta from what you may have seen when you last played.
The way the game calculates critical hits has changed (the much-anticipated "Crit Rework"), making many formerly lackluster mobile suits into powerhouses, while limiting the usefulness of former mainstays in many teams such as the Penelope and other Armored units. There are now plenty of units that have shifted the game's meta away from using AoE EX Skills in tandem to using heavy hitters paired with mobile suits that can turn the enemy team's attention toward Armored units (the Zeong plus Gyan). But as of this writing, even this meta is slowly changing with the introduction of the Crit Rework into something entirely new.
This makes it a perfect time for many new and former alike to enter and get their hands on new units that take advantage of this new dynamic. Or, if you happen to have older mobile suits like the Gundam Ez8, then you will find that your investment did not go to waste.
Before Gundam UCE's 2/2/25 Update, whenever your mobile suit made a critical hit, the damage it caused did not go over its damage cap (a limit on how much damage a mobile suit can deal to an enemy with a single attack). This made critical hits weak for veteran players because their mobile suits' regular attacks would often max out, or come very close to the damage cap, effectively limiting crit damage.
Now, the extra damage dealt with critical hits is treated as a separate instance of damage. This allows mobile suit attacks "go over" the cap and deal more damage. As a result, many mobile suits that relied on critical hits to do damage or boosted the chances of their allies to deal critical hits became more powerful and valuable, such as the Gundam Ez8.
If you're a returning player and you own either an Ez8 or one of the other mobile suits affected by the Crit Rework, such as the Unicorn Gundam Perfectibility, Sinanju Stein, and others, then you might find these mobile suits more powerful than ever before - especially when modules that raise a mobile suit's crit rate come out.
When you last played Gundam UCE, good chances are that the meta of the game back then was using an assortment of dodge tanks such as The-O, along with AoE heavy-hitters such as the Gundam GP02A and the Hamma-Hamma. Maybe you left when the Zeta Gundam still dominated most Arena battles.
Right now, the "Meta" in Gundam UCE has shifted to players using a certain team that revolves around the Zeong, the Yellow Sazabi, the Ez8, the Gyan, and an Armored unit or two of your own choice. The Gyan would force the enemy team to attack the Armored unit first, giving the Zeong time to deal damage, use its EX Skill, and eliminate the enemy team with little risk to its own safety. However, as of this writing, even this meta is changing slightly because the crit rework somewhat weakened Armored units in general (critical hits not only bypass their high guard rates, but deal more damage).
But since the new meta has not solidified yet, then it could be your chance to get the right mobile suit when it gets released in-game. If you plan ahead (or get really lucky), you could dominate today's Arena with a potentially new meta unit.
A new event has been added to Gundam UCE's roster of bi-weekly game events: Encirclement Breakthrough Battles! Your mobile suits are supposed to hold out against enemies of a certain mobile suit color for a fixed amount of time.
Finishing the various objectives per mission earns you Diamonds, and finishing the event can lead to you winning R/SR Custom Tickets, as well as blueprints and character pieces that can snag you new mobile suits and pilots.

Players who have not played the game for more than three months are entitled to the Comeback Login Bonus. If you log in to Gundam UCE for 28 days straight, you stand to win up to 21,000 Diamonds (equal to 70 pulls), 4500 UR Custom Tickets, 900000 Coins, 900 Enhancement Program IVs, 900 Operation Improvement Manual IVs, 15000 Enhancement Points, 60000 Recycle Points, and 6750 Rainbow Haro Coins.
The Diamonds and Haro Coins alone can help you get caught up with the latest mobile suits and Transcend them into more powerful versions of themselves. So if you're returning to the Gundam UCE grind, make sure to not miss a day of the Comeback Login bonus.
There are new free UR mobile suits that you can farm and turn into Haro Coin farms, giving you a steady supply of Rainbow Haro Coins to transcend your most powerful units. Some units to watch out for are the Qubeley Mass Production Type variants (Lyn, Rey, and Non). The Fragment Quests for these can be found in the Mobile Suit Gundam U.C. Engage section of the game mode.
Recently, Gundam UC Engage came out with Amuro and CHar mode, which can be considered a new story mode all on its own with cutscenes, an interconnected plot, and setpiece battles. What's also good is that, with each mission you clear, you can get 60 Diamonds through achievements. So play Amuro and Char Mode and relive the most intense rivalry that may have defined the Universal Century.

With many units becoming stronger than ever before, lots of rewards, and new mobile suits, you could consider climbing the ranks of the Arena. Not only do you get to test your mettle against mobile suit teams by other players, but the Arena can also be a rather lucrative way to earn Diamonds.
