How to strengthen your mobile suits

Make mobile suits in Gundam UCE stronger by upgrading them, transcending them, and more! Read on to learn the different ways to strengthen mobile suits, from Unit Enhancement and Modules to completing your Engage Link.

How to Strengthen Mobile Suits

How to Strengthen Mobile Suits

Pair With Synergistic Pilots

signature pairing

One of the most important things that a mobile suit needs is the right pilot. Pilots increase a mobile suit's combat effectiveness by granting it certain buffs as well as bonuses when it comes to important stats like Critical Rate, ATK, etc.

Most mobile suits have a signature pilot whose kit perfectly synergizes with their mobile suit. While these are generally required for optimal performance, some mobile suits synergize extremely well with certain substitute pilots to the point where they match or even outperform the signature pilot.

For example, the S Gundam and Roux Louka are a signature pairing, but Roux only has a 185% ranged sense buff when the S Gundam could be dealing way more damage with the ranged sense buffs of other pilots like Kincade Nau (more than 350% ranged sense) or Char Aznable (up to 300% ranged sense). Ranged Sense determines how much damage a pilot's ranged attacks will deal to the enemy with their mobile suit.

Most mobile suits, on the other hand, flat out require their signature pilot to perform well as they otherwise lose out on certain buffs that are essential to their kit.

An example of this is The-O (Purple) and its pilot, Paptimus Scirocco. Paptimus is essential for The-O to work properly, as he grants key buffs to EX damage, ranged sense, and guard rate. With substitute pilots, The-O will either deal significantly less damage or will allow more attacks to seep through its defenses, since there are no other pilots who grant a similar set of buffs.

Pilot Stats Explained

Level Up

image1.jpg

Raise a mobile suit's level to make it stronger. Leveling up a mobile suit increases its base stats, which include its HP, ATK, DEF, and, in effect, its CP.

Increasing a mobile suit's level requires Enhancement Programs, which can be obtained regularly from the Mobile Suit Upgrade Quest daily mission.

Alter

image2.jpg

Another easy and effective way to strengthen owned mobile suits is by using the Alter feature. This may, however, require quite a bit of grinding, especially during the later stages when the quantity and quality of the materials needed to upgrade a mobile suit increase. Increasing a mobile suit's Custom level provides major bonuses to its HP, ATK, DEF, Increase Projectiles, Reduce Projectiles, Increase Beam, Reduce Beam, Increase Critical, and Critical Value.

Alteration requires Alteration Materials, which give a minor increase to a mobile suit's stats depending on the material required. Upon equipping a mobile suit with all of its needed Alteration Materials, its Custom level can be raised.

Increasing a mobile suit's Custom level by using Custom Tickets instead is also possible. This method does not need the player to grind for Alteration Materials, but Custom Tickets themselves are rather rare.

Skill Rate Up

image3.jpg

A mobile suit's Skill Rate Level is essentially its proficiency level. Mobile suits gain Skill Rate EXP as they go on missions. Once a mobile suit gains enough Skill Rate EXP, it levels up, raising its HP, ATK, DEF, and CP.

Players can also increase a mobile suit's Skill Rate Level by using Skill Rate Data disks on it. However, these skill rate disks can only be obtained by buying them, playing the game, or research.

Potential Unleashed

image7.jpg

One of the more expensive and/or time-consuming ways to strengthen a mobile suit is by unleashing its potential. Doing so requires the appropriate mobile suit's blueprints, which can only really be obtained in limited ways depending on the mobile suit, and a few coins.

Unleashing a mobile suit's potential provides a major boost to all of its stats across the board. It is the most significant upgrade a mobile suit can get in terms of raw numbers.

Potential Unleashed also improves the number of a mobile suit's EX skill. These can be increases to the damage multiplier, duration, buff or debuff percentages, etc.

Transcendence

image6.jpg

Transcending is a feature that is exclusive to UR-rarity mobile suits. This is because it only affects UR-rarity mobile suit-exclusive Transcendent Skills and their effects. Upgrading its Transcendent Skill requires Rainbow Haro Coins and a few normal coins.

Due to the rarity of Rainbow Haro Coins, it is recommended that players only invest in a mobile suit's Transcendent Skill if they are sure that they will use it for a long time.

Unit Enhancement

image8.jpg

Unit Enhancement is another way of making mobile suits stronger. This feature is divided into a mobile suit's Body, Main Weapon, Additional Weapon(s), and, if applicable, Third Weapon.

Each section allows players to invest in specific stats linked to that part of the mobile suit. For example, players can invest in a mobile suit's HP, ATK, DEF, or Evasion by upgrading its body. Meanwhile, they can invest in a weapon's Power, Accuracy, or EX Gauge.

There is a limit to the total number of levels a player can invest per part. This means that they will need to thoroughly consider which aspect of the mobile suit's body or weapon they should put resources into.

Equip Module

image4.jpg

Modules are essentially equipment that can be provided to increase specific stats. Additionally, higher-rarity modules possess Special Abilities that can provide massive miscellaneous stat boosts to the mobile suit.

The main source for modules is the game's Cooperative content. This will require players to participate in high-level PvE content, as well as trigger these stages themselves for others to join in. The higher the difficulty, the better values they can get out of the module's Special Abilities.

Grade Up

F91 Grade Up

Grade Up grants mobile suits a big boost to certain stats as well as a certain set of permanent buffs depending on the mobile suit's category.

Gears, the resource used for Grade Up, come in different rarities and categories, with each one being usable only on mobile suits of their respective rarity and category.

These Gears can only be acquired from events and paid Grade Up packs, so players should be even more diligent in grinding events every week, even if they purchase Grade Up packs.

Engage Link

Mobile Suit Gundam UC Engage - Engage Link

Another way to strengthen owned units is through Engage Link, where collecting more mobile suits provides stat bonuses to the units. Each Mobile Suit is categorized into a "Record," and pulling units from a specific Record gradually fills the Engage Link, until it levels up and grants stat bonuses to all the mobile suits in the same category.

Players can increase the Engage Link levels of each Record by pulling mobile suits from gacha banners or assembling their blueprints, which are obtainable from in-game shops or as rewards from specific events.

Grade Up Sets and Haro Pass

Grade Up Sets

Since plenty of the game's important resources for upgrading units are extremely grind-intensive or hard to acquire, it is important to consider purchasing Grade Up sets, as players may not be strong enough to earn all the UR Gears they can win from events. UR Gears are sometimes locked behind difficult challenges that are impossible to beat at a player's current level, so it may take them a while before they can accumulate the ones they need for free.

With a meta mobile suit that has been Graded Up, a player's team should be much more capable of competing in the Arena and clearing certain PvE events.

Grade Up Sets

Meanwhile, subscribing to Haro Pass Pro should greatly help improve a team by allowing players to skip Cooperative Battles and earn tons of modules with zero effort.

Modules in themselves are already a means of strengthening owned mobile suits, but the ones with sub-optimal CP and special effects can be traded in for Unit Enhancement Points. With a Haro Pass Pro, players get to effortlessly kill two birds with one stone by skipping Coop Quests, easily earning modules, and trading in the less desirable ones for Unit Enhancement Pts.
