Most Common Arena Mobile Suits and Counters - Gundam UC Engage

The Arena is filled with mobile suits of all types, with the most common units being either heavy hitters in the game's meta or units that even F2P players can use at a high level. Read on to learn about the most common mobile suits in Arena and how to beat them.

The-O (Purple), commonly referred to as Purple-O, is the most popular unit in the game and is the unit you will come across the most in Arena.

Its high guard rate, paired with Perfect Guard and 999% resistances for the first quarter minute of the match, makes it impossible to deal with if you don't have the tools necessary to do so.

When guarding, this MS heals, increases its damage, and charges its EX gauge. Its EX skill hits hard and buffs its damage, but its Lethal EX skill covers the battlefield in giant lasers that deal damage to enemies when they are struck.

There are only a few ways to consistently be able to beat The-O. The most effective way is to inflict Unguardable on it to completely bypass its guarding mechanics and cut off its ability to heal and EX-spamming capabilities. At the time of writing, only the Waverider Zeta is able to make use of this debuff.

Assault units with crits are able to do the same, but The-O might still heal and spam if it's being attacked by other regular units. There aren't any Assault units with built-in crit at the time of writing, so fielding Assault units like the Quin Mantha alongside crit buffers like the Support Qubeley and the Ez8 should do the trick.

Finally, The-O does not have any buffs to its EX damage resistance, so hitting it with high-powered EX skills from something like the Nu Gundam HWS should work well.

Quin Mantha is a bruiser with an extremely high HP pool, decent resistances, and decent evasion, too. While it is able to take a good amount of damage before falling, it doesn't have a unique gimmick or an overpowered status to make it as tanky as the best defensive units in the game.

Instead, it is able to deal high amounts of damage, and benefits from Assault too. It notably does not have any self-inflicted crit rate debuffs, so it becomes a good The-O (Purple) counter with crit buffers alongside it.

When paired with the Methuss, the Quin Mantha becomes even harder to deal with, as it can be revived when it falls in battle, possibly being able to tank millions in damage if it keeps getting brought back.

Quin Mantha Best Builds and Teams

The Quin Mantha does not have any unique gimmicks or overpowered defensive statuses, so pretty much anything can deal damage to it. You're best off abusing the type advantage system by using strong Green-type units like the first 2 units listed above.

When paired with a Methuss, you'll want to prioritize taking that one out first if possible to prevent the Quin Mantha from being revived. Theta Plus (Sniper) is particularly good at this as its EX skill deals additional instances of damage to Blue-types and Support category units, so Methuss receives 3x the damage from the Theta Plus.

Quin Mantha is a Newtype Machine, which makes it susceptible to something like the Todesritter whose kit is meant to counter Newtype Machines.

Methuss

PvE Rank PvP Rank
Gundam UCE - SS (Support) Icon

Rarity Category Type
UR MementoMori - Support Icon Support Mobile Suit Gundam UC Engage- Blue ImageBlue

The Methuss is an AoE healer whose healing capabilities are much more potent on Blue-types. It is able to constantly keep its comrades, especially its Blue-type allies, healthy thanks to a heal on its EX skill and a passive heal every 6 seconds.

What makes it so good is that it is also able to revive 1 Blue-type unit each time it uses its EX skill. This is why it is a must-have if you're running the Quin Mantha, since it makes it even harder for the said unit to die, but can also bring it back to life should it fall in battle.

Methuss Counters
Mobile Suit Gundam U.C. Engage - Theta Plus (Sniper) Icon[M0458] Theta Plus Mobile Suit Gundam U.C. Engage - Sinanju (Generic) Icon[M0408] Sinanju Mobile Suit Gundam U.C. Engage - The-O (Purple) Icon[M0381] The-O

The Theta Plus (Sniper) kit is perfectly designed to counter the Methuss, as its AoE EX skill deals additional instances of damage to Blue-types and Support category units, and the Methuss is a Blue-type Support unit. This means that each time the Theta Plus uses its EX skill, the Methuss receives 3x the damage from the Theta Plus.

This mobile suit really isn't tough once you have access to it, and any half-decent DPS unit should be able to make quick work of it. The problem is that it is often positioned in a manner where it is not easily accessible, so you'll likely have to deal with some of its allies first before you're able to get to the Methuss.

The Alex (Chobham Armor) is another top-tier tank that can be really annoying to deal with, given its unique gimmick of being able to reflect 144% of the EX damage it takes back at the attacker.

It is also a good tank as it is able to reduce the beam and projectile damage it takes by 98%, and heal itself for 45% of its max HP each time it uses its EX skill.

Given its massive beam and projectile damage resistance buffs, it's hard to take out the Alex (Chobham Armor). A good way to beat it is if you use the debuffs from Awakened Magna Martell to counteract its damage resistance buffs, increasing the damage it takes from all sources.

Unicorn Gundam Perfectibility (NT-D) can also prove to be useful as its EX skill can prevent the Alex from healing itself.

The only other way to beat this MS is by using EX skills, given how it lacks any EX damage resistance buffs. Take note, however, that this is a dangerous strategy since it will reflect the EX damage it takes.

Nu Gundam HWS

Gundam UCE - SS Icon
Rarity Category Type
UR MementoMori - Armored Icon Armored Mobile Suit Gundam UC Engage- Yellow ImageYellow

The Nu Gundam HWS is an anti-Rival Unit mobile suit that isn't really effective against mobile suits without this tag.

It benefits from a big HP pool along with the ability to take 58% reduced damage. Against Rival Units, however, this MS further takes 120% less damage, taking the total damage resistance buff up to a staggering 178%.

Against Rival Units, the HWS also deals increased damage from its weapons, and doubles the damage its EX skill deals.

It's rather simple to beat the Nu Gundam HWS. Against mobile suits without the Rival Unit tag, it's quite easy to take it down. That said, use meta DPS units that do not have the Rival Unit tag to be able to make quick work of the HWS.

The absolute best way to deal with it is by using the Unicorn Gundam Perfectibility (NT-D). This MS enjoys a type advantage over the HWS and is specialized to counter Psycho-Frame Type units, which the HWS falls under. Additionally, the PF (NT-D)'s EX skill prevents the HWS from healing, making it even easier to deal with.

The Gundam F91 (Full Power), commomly referred to as MEPE, is a mobile suit taunts all enemies for the first 8 seconds of combat, drawing all aggro towards it regardless of any Target Priority statuses.

It is able to handle the heat it brings towards itself thanks to a permanent Absolute Evade buff along with 99% EX damage resistance. It also has regular evasion to go along with its Absolute Evade, so it is still able to evade most attacks from Bullseye units that do not have accuracy.

It is one of those "skill check" units that can 1v6 entire teams that do not have the proper tools to deal with it.

There are only 2 ways to beat the F91.

The first is to use either Unavoidable or Bullseye + high accuracy to bypass its evasion, and Absolute Evade and wear it down with attacks. Unavoidable is the better option here, since this enables your entire team to deal damage to the F91, whereas those with Bullseye + high accuracy can only do damage on their own, leaving their teammates to miss their attacks.

Another way to wear down this defensive beast of a unit is by using debuffs that increase the damage it takes, since these types of debuffs also lower the MEPE's EX damage resistance, opening it up to being burst by EX skills. Take note that this method does not work with debuffs that increase the amount of beam and projectile damage units take, since those do not affect the F91's EX damage resistance whatsoever.

This specific method requires Char's Z'Gok and Awakened Magna Martell, as both these units have the strong debuffs we want for the strategy.

The Victory 2 Assault Gundam, commonly referred to as V2A, is a potent single-target healer that also has access to Perfect Guard, evasion, decent damage, and grants a team-wide EX damage reduction buff.

This mobile suit gains ramping evasion and damage buffs every 5 seconds, and it charges up its EX skill each time an ally falls in battle. That said, it's beneficial to take this mobile suit out early to prevent it from spamming its heals and becoming more dangerous.

Char's Z'Gok's target priority and damage taken debuffs will allow your units to take out the V2A Gundam early into the match before it gets to heal too much or grow in strength.

Its Perfect Guard can prove to be annoying to deal with, so try to get your Assault units, like Quin Mantha, to deal with the V2A Gundam.

Generic Sinanju

[M0408] Sinanju
PvE Rank PvP Rank
Gundam UCE - SS (Generic) Icon
Gundam UCE - SS Icon
Rarity Category Type
UR MementoMori - Generic Icon Generic Mobile Suit Gundam UC Engage- Green ImageGreen

The Generic Sinanju is one of the most popular DPS units in the game. It has access to Bullseye, high critical rate, and critical ATK even without crit buffers, and is self-sustaining thanks to a heal-on-hit mechanic.

It is similar to the Yellow Sazabi, but is much more effective in every way imaginable.

Sinanju (Generic) Best Builds and Teams

Sinanju (Generic) Counters

One fatal flaw of the Generic Sinanju is that it doesn't have the tools necessary to beat Perfect Guard units or those with Absolute Evade + high evasion, since it does not have any accuracy buffs to go along with its Bullseye. This makes it ineffective against MSs with these statuses, like The-O (Purple) and the F91 Full Power.

It is also a Rival Unit, which makes the Nu Gundam HWS excellent against it. The Nu HWS can shrug off the Sinanju's damage and deal huge amounts of damage in retaliation.

Although the Generic Sinanju has a heal on taking damage mechanic, it cannot outlast today's overpowered defensive specialists.

Gyan

[M0317] Gyan
PvE Rank PvP Rank
Gundam UCE - SS (Support) Icon
Gundam UCE - SS Icon
Rarity Category Type
UR MementoMori - Support Icon Support Mobile Suit Gundam UC Engage- Purple ImagePurple

The Gyan is an Arena meta-defining unit because of its ability to force enemy units to attack only its allied Armored units for the first 15 seconds of combat, or until no allied Armored units are left, whichever comes first. This keeps the opposing attackers away from the Gyan's DPS allies, allowing the latter to freely hit opponents and use their EX Skills without fear of retaliation.

Gyan Best Builds and Teams

Theoretically, there's no need to counter the Gyan because it by itself isn't too much of a threat. It's the tanks that you have to counter and deal with quickly. Having your own Gyan allows your mobile suits to eat away at tanks safely, except when against a Gyan + AoE team comp. The Zeta Gundam and the Sazabi, on the other hand, are some of the best tank busters in the game.

You're gonna want to learn how to counter The-O (Purple), Quin Mantha, Nu HWS, and Alex (Chobham Armor), as these units are some of the best Armored mobile suits to pair alongside the Gyan. Luckily for you, guides on how to counter these can also be found on this list.
