Banshee Analysis

Tanky But Lacks Damage

The Banshee is a very durable Raid mobile suit whose main selling point is its EX skill, which targets the lowest HP enemy unit for 502% ATK, while restoring its own HP by 45% of max.

Its regular skills include a permanent 18% beam damage buff, a stacking beam damage buff of up to 70% on evading, and a stacking beam damage resistance buff on evading that maxes out at 70% as well.

The Banshee has several issues that limit its value. One big one is how its stacking buffs are pretty much useless if you don't Transcend this MS, as its only 2 evasion buffs are locked behind Transcendent levels. Another issue is its damage buffs, or lack thereof. It has 2 beam damage buffs in total, which amounts to a maximum of 88%. 70% of that has to come from stacks earned when evading. That said, if it's not getting attacked, it won't be dealing much damage.

Another glaring weakness is how the Banshee is a Raid unit with only 1 melee weapon and 1 subpar ranged weapon. It doesn't even have a Third Weapon. This means that this mobile suit approaches battle in a weird way where it alternates between using both its weapons, moving in and out of melee range instead of staying close and using its superior weapon.

Transcendent Skills Improve Durability

The Banshee grows much more durable when fully Transcended, as this increases evasion by 25%, another 50% evasion, and the ability to heal 750 HP on evading. This also allows the Banshee to access its beam damage and beam damage resistance buffs, as it has absolutely no evasion skills outside of Transcendent Skills.

Potential Unleashed also benefits this MS as it improves its EX skill damage and healing potency.

Overall, the Banshee is a good PvE unit despite its lack of damage given how it's able to stay alive for long periods of time. In PvP, however, the limitations listed above really hold it back from being viable. Another thing is how good Arena teams often have ways to counter evasion, and the strongest DPS units in Arena can burn through high amounts of HP. Its durability, which is its strongest feature, fails to work consistently and effectively in Arena.
