Banshee Norn (NT-D) Analysis

High Damage Evasion MS

The Banshee Norn (Black Lion), for a time, was the most powerful Arena unit in the Japanese server of the game. This is mainly thanks to its EX skill, which hits an opponent for 603% ATK, buffs the damage of Green type allies (including itself) by 26%, and most importantly, grants a unique self-buff called Hyper Awaken for 10 seconds. When this unit is in this unique state, it becomes very hard to take down as it becomes equipped with Absolute Evade and a 50% damage reduction buff, while also dealing 100% more beam damage. All these effects are granted throughout the entire 10-second duration.

This mobile suit can activate its EX skill and put itself in the Hyper Awaken status early into the match since it's equipped with one of those Transcendent skills that restore 50% of its EX gauge when the battle begins. Once it gets into Hyper Awaken status, it can constantly stay in that mode given its restore 6% EX gauge on evade skill, and that it'll evade almost every attack thrown its way with the exception of EX skills. Evading attacks also mean that it'll be able to spam its EX skill in a similar manner to The-O and the Titania.

As for its other skills, it enjoys a damage cap increase of 20000, a bunch of damage buffs, a 25% accuracy buff, and a 30% evasion buff for the first 20 seconds of battle. All these make the Banshee Norn (NT-D) a powerhouse of a unit for when things go its way.

Needs To Take Hits To Succeed

The Banshee Norn (NT-D) needs to be able to evade attacks for it to be able to pop off. Without evading, it won't be able to charge its EX skill fast enough to be able to spam, and it won't always be in its Hyper Awaken mode which significantly increases its power.

One of the biggest issues the Banshee Norn has to deal with is the prevalence of the Gyan, which tremendously hurts the value of the Black Lion. The Gyan is one of, if not the best mobile suit to have for Arena, whose role is to force opponents into attacking only Armored units first. Most people playing competitive Arena already have a Gyan. Gyan and Black Lion simply do not go together as Gyan will prevent the Black Lion from taking hits, and therefore, takes away its ability to evade, charge its EX, and constantly stay in Hyper Awaken mode. That said, you'll have to pick between the two, and most people with go with the Gyan since its Arena value is simply too good to give up.

Stronger When Transcended

Transcending this unit to max level gives it more accuracy and beam damage, but most importantly, allows it to use its EX skill early into the match, activating the Hyper Awaken status and reaping its benefits sooner rather than later.

Potential Unleashed is also very important upgrade system on this unit as it directly improves its EX skill, which plays a central role in its kit.

Riddhe is by far the Banshee Norn (NT-D)'s best pilot, as he grants it up to 300% bonuses to both ranged sense and melee sense, 16% reaction, 24% evasion, and 24% accuracy. It gets a big offensive boost from Riddhe, better survivability, and more chances to evade and charge up its EX gauge.
