Crits, Bullseye, and Absolute Evade

The Zeta III is a Purple Generic mobile suit that benefits from the Bullseye status effect for 8 seconds each time it activates its EX skill, which also deals a chunk of damage. This unit benefits from 64% increased EX gauge recovery, and with that, it can cast its EX skill at a pretty good rate of every 8-11 seconds. That means that it'll almost never miss once it gets to use its EX skill for the first time. Because of this, the Zeta III will be usable against units that rely on evasion to survive, like The-O.

When landing critical hits, the Zeta III gains 1 stack of absolute evade, which stacks up to 5 times. The problem with this unit is that it has a crit rate buff of just 25%, and that's only after you Transcend it to Lv. 5. With this unit's signature pilot, that number goes up to 51%. However, even with a 50% critical rate buff, having only a maximum of 5 stacks of absolute evade will mean that mobile suits with weapons that hit multiple times will easily deplete these stacks. When you haven't gotten this unit to Transcendent Lv. 5, this skill won't be of any use, and even if you do, units with attacks that have high hit counts will simply shred through its defenses.

Finally, this unit did not arrive with a special banner with higher pull rates. Instead, it was just added to the pool of units you could pull for in the regular MS banner. That said, it'll be hard to get one, and especially multiple copies of this unit. The same goes for Fa Yuiry, its signature pilot. That being said, chances are you only have this MS at Potential Lv. 0, so the Bullseye from its EX skill's duration would be really quick.

Transcending Grants Key Buffs

The Zeta Gundam III is a unit that benefits from landing critical strikes, but its only critical rate self-buff is locked behind Transcendent Lv. 5. Without Transcending this unit at all, all you'll get from this unit is its EX skill and its Skill 1, which increases its EX skill recovery. Skill 2 becomes useless without the ability to land crits. Its only other skill effects are buffs to accuracy and beam damage, though those are locked behind Transcendent levels as well.

As briefly touched on above, Potential Unleashed is also really important on this MS for the Bullseye status duration.

However, even though Transcending greatly increases this unit's effectiveness, it is still not recommended for the reasons we'll discuss below.

Outclassed By Modern Bullseye/Absolute Evade Units

While this was a pretty solid unit if you had it built back then, it just no longer holds up against today's powerhouse units. For one, it doesn't have a damage cap increase, so its damage will be lacking, even when it gets to land its crits. Speaking of crits, plenty of today's crit-oriented units are able to reach 100% crit rate just by pairing them with their signature pilot and using Sub MSs or modules. The Zeta III, on the other hand, can only reach up to 50% crit rate. Its Bullseye skill is alright, though it needs high Potential Levels if you want it to perform well. It also has low accuracy, so you can't expect it to do well against Absolute Evade.

As for its Absolute Evade skill, it simply isn't reliable as a primary form of defense, given that it relies on crits to get stacks, and again, its ability to land crits is nowhere near as consistent as today's viable crit-oriented units. It can also only hold 5 stacks at a time, so any multi-hit unit could easily deplete its stacks. This pales in comparison to today's best Absolute Evade units, with a handful of units having access to permanent Absolute Evade buffs. The Zeta III also does not have any regular evasion, so Bullseye units with even a little bit of accuracy could easily take out this unit, too. Sadly, this MS does not have any other defensive feature other than this flawed and unreliable access to Absolute Evade.

Fa gives the Zeta Gundam III some much-needed critical rate, bringing the total up to 51% when fully Transcended. She also grants 77% more ranged sense for the first 30 seconds of combat, additional stacks of up to 190% more ranged sense on critical hits, and up to 65% accuracy and reaction on evading. Because Fa gives a critical rate buff and a bunch of other benefits, she's the best pilot for the Zeta III by far.
