Gyan Analysis

Forces Enemies To Attack Tanks

The Gyan forces all enemies to target only Armored mobile suits for the first 15 seconds of combat, or until no more Armored units stand in their way, whichever comes first. This skill alone makes Gyan an extremely powerful Arena mobile suit, as it will keep the attention away from its key DPS units and allow them to wreak havoc on the battlefield without fear of retaliation. To bolster these Armored units' defenses, the Gyan also reduces the beam damage they take by 36%.

The Gyan can also be a potent DPS threat if at high potential levels, as its EX skill deals 722% ATK as damage, and an additional 180% for each unit in its team with the Zeon Forces-Affiliated tag. Luckily for the Gyan, plenty of the top DPS units who would want the Gyan as an ally fall under this unit category tag. The Gyan can fire this EX skill off early into the battle when at Transcendent Lv. 5, as this restores 50% of its EX gauge when the battle begins, potentially killing off its targeted opponent.

Speaking of Zeon Forces-Affiliated units, the Gyan reduces the damage they take by 7% for each Zeon unit on their team.

Great When Transcended and Potential Unleashed, But Usable At T0P0

We've already discussed why this unit is excellent when fully invested in it. However, even with its Potential and Transcendent levels down to 0, it still provides teams with excellent value given how it allows tanks to take the heat away from its team's DPS carries, giving them free rein to do as they please. The Gyan won't deal huge damage given its slow EX skill and lower multipliers, but it'll still defend your units at the highest level, provided it's got great defensive units alongside it.

Meta-Defining With A Natural Affinity With Meta Units

The Gyan is excellent alongside defensive juggernauts like the Penelope and The-O, who want the enemy team attacking it. It's also excellent alongside DPS hypercarries who want to attack freely while their opponents are distracted with something else, like the Zeong and the Yellow Sazabi. Luckily for the Gyan, plenty of these fall under the Zeon Forces-Affiliated unit category tag, so they'll receive less damage from attacks while also powering up the Gyan's EX skill by 180% for each of them.

Team Dependent

The Gyan is a must-have unit for Arena given its protective cabilities. However, because it pulls enemy aggro towards its Armored units, these Armored mobile suits have to be able to withstand the heat the Gyan will bring upon them. Units like the Penelope and The-O will thrive under these conditions, while the weaker Armored units might not be able to last very long.

Similarly, units that can take advantage of this window of opportunity that the Gyan provides are essential to Gyan-centered team compositions. Without the right units around it, the Gyan won't really be of much help.

M'Quve is the best pilot for the Gyan thanks to granting 17% more accuracy, 10% more HP, and up to 120% stacking ranged sense, all on top of the 18% EX gauge recovery buff that all Support pilots provide. If you intend to have the Gyan perform to the best of its ability, the M'Quve is essential to that.

On the other hand, if you're using it mainly for its supportive capabilities, you could get away with all the other support pilots that grant the EX gauge recovery buff.

［M0056］ Zeong	• This mobile suit can benefit from the Zeong’s 25% damage buff that it grants to Zeon Forces-Affiliated allies on EX activation. • The Zeong can also greatly benefit from the Gyan as it can draw aggro away from the Zeong, allowing it to freely attack and use its EX skill at least 2 times.
