List of Contents
To clear the game, there are 21 Main Missions to complete to unlock CHAOS Mode. Clearing the game on any difficulty will still unlock CHAOS Mode, so if you are aiming for the quickest completion time, it's recommended to play on Story Mode with the Casual option on to breeze through missions before taking on CHAOS Mode.
Completing Side missions counts towards the Strangers' Memories trophy. There are a total of 24 Side Missions in the game (along with 8 Tutorial Missions), and can be completed on Story Mode to get the trophy quickly and easily. To unlock side missions, you must first collect orbs found in main missions, so switch to Story Mode and abandon mission once you have the orb you need.
You will unlock more Jobs for Jack as you level up Job Trees and you will unlock more Jobs for your party members by completing Side Missions. Unlock all Jobs to earn the Jack-of-All-Trades trophy.
Since EXP does not change depending on Difficulty, play on Story Mode to level up Jack quickly and unlock more Jobs. Story Mode will also make unlocking Jobs for your team much quicker.
List of Jobs and How to Unlock
Once you clear the game on any lower difficulty, you will unlock CHAOS Mode, the hardest difficulty in the game. On this mode, mission and equipment level can scale up to level 300, and most enemies can deplete your break gauge in one hit, if not one-shot you outright.
Oddly enough, upon clearing the first main boss Chaos Advent in the mission Illusion at Journey's End, we experienced the trophy Origin of True Chaos unlocking so this trophy may be bugged as it is meant to unlock after clearing the game on CHAOS Difficulty.
Before you start aiming for the level cap, first you must unlock Limit Releases for the Job you want. In CHAOS mode, completing Main Missions at different mission levels will reward you with Limit Releases for specific Jobs.
Unlocking every Limit Release is not required to get any trophy or achievement, although you need at least one to so that you can spend a Master Point to get the Master's Awakening trophy. So at the very least, you will need to unlock one Limit Release, level it up to 31, and spend a Master Point. That being said, unlocking more than one Limit release is recommended as it makes surviving CHAOS Mode easier.
Maxing out every job is not required for any trophy or achievement, but you will need to reach level 99 in at least one to get the Job Master trophy. After leveling past 30, you can also spend Master Points from the Job Tree to boosts stats for that Job.
To max out a job, you will need to clear Main Missions at high mission levels to unlock Limit Releases, then it's best to farm Anima Crystals to max out Jobs out quickly. The current fastest known way to get Anima Crystals is by farming the Hippogriff in the Phantoms of the Past Main Mission.
In CHAOS Mode, Artifact equipment can drop from enemies or chests in the level. Artifacts have two Affinities which help you level up multiple Jobs at once and give you more Job Affinity Bonuses. Also reaching 400% Affinity in a Job is required to unlock the Polymath achievement.
By collecting Artifacts on a level 300 mission, you will be getting the best equipment available in the game, so it's recommended to raise one mission to level 300 to farm Artifacts and then begin taking on other missions in CHAOS Mode.
Upgrading weapons at the Smithy to raise the effectiveness of their Equipment Effects can help you further customize your build. To get the most out of modifying equipment, you will need the three Smith's Hammer items:
Item | Mission | Effect |
---|---|---|
Smith's Hammer I | Indigo Memories: The Damned | Allows the Equipment Effects of five star weapons and armor to be upgraded. |
Smith's Hammer II | Indigo Memories: The Trapped | Allows you to select different Equipment Effects for a piece of equipment. |
Smith's Hammer III | Indigo Memories: The Stabbed | Allows the use of Job Crests to raise equipment Affinity. |
Fully upgrading one piece of equiment's Equipment Effect will unlock the True Potential achievement. Note that none of the Smith's Hammer items are required to unlock this trophy, however it is recommended to use them to your benefit.
