Provoker Build

Provoker.gif
This build primarily takes advantage of the Provoke Command Ability, which goads enemies into attacking you more often. WIth the use of a Greatsword, this buils is great when trying to get enemeis into large groups that can all be inflicted with damage through massive swings with the weapon.

The only drawback of this build is it's lack of shield, which players may find difficult to defend without if they're jumping into this Job from the Swordfighter Job.

Command Ability Setup

Best Commands
ProvokeProvoke ZanshinZanshin RuinRuin
  • Provoke: Provoke is the primary ability that makes this build possible. Unlocked in the Knight Job Tree, this ability makes it so that incoming damage taken from enemies will be reduced, all while making enemies more aggressive to the player, allowing you to lay into them with constant barrages of attacks with your Greatsword.
  • Zanshin: Reduces MP cost of combo abilities, resulting in more combos being used against enemies. Unlocked in the Samurai Job Tree.
  • Ruin: Unlocked in the Mage Job Tree, this ability sends a non-elemental magic attack in front of Jack that sends enemies flying. Use in emergency situations where you're low on MP, and thus cannot use combos to push away foes.

Passive and Effect Priorities

  • A True Knight: Enhanced abilities set to the first Link, in this case Spinning Slash, causing enemies to be staggered.
  • Commandment: Enhances abilities set to the Alter Parry Link. Set Blessing of Light to this Link for enhanced shockwave effect.
  • All Damage -3.8%: Reduces all damage taken from enemy attacks. Unlock a second node with this ability for further damage reduction.

Recommended Equipment Effects

Equipment Effects
Stamina ( + )
Damage Reduction While Attacking ( + )
HP Recovery Amount ( + )

Although players can greatly benefit from more damage increasing stat boosters from Equipment Effects, the more logical step to take in the armor and weapons section of the build is to introduce several defensive boosts that provide the player with more capabilities to hold off enemy attacks.

It will be quite impossible to avoid enemy aggression, particularly when in the middle of attacks, so managing to absorb some attacks goes a long way to make sure that you can increase your survivability, similar to the Tank build of the Swordsman Job.

True Knight Build

True Knight.gif
This buid is primarily build around the concept of counterattacking, similar to the build with Swordfighter.

Acting more like a quintessential Knight, the reliance on both sword and shield is the emphasis of this build, attacking only when openings arise that gives players the possibility of causing damage to the enemy.

  • Shield Bash: Unlocked in the Swordfighter Job Tree, this ability, although unwieldy to use, allows you to "push" enemies away from you without having to drop your guard.
  • Zanshin: Reduces MP cost of Combo Abilities. Unlocked with the Samurai Job Tree.
  • Ruin: Unleashes a non-elemental magic attack in front of Jack that sends enemies flying. Useful for breaking up crowds, which goes well with the defensive nature of this build. Unlocked in the Mage Job Tree.

Passive and Effect Priorities

Best Passives and Effects
Paragon of the BladeParagon of the Blade Spirit of the SwordSpirit of the Sword Parry: HP Recovery +4.6%Parry: HP Recovery +4.6%
  • Paragon of the Blade: Enhances abilities set to the Alter Parry Link, which in this case will be Blessing of the Light. Restores HP to the player based on physical damage dealt with the ability.
  • Spirit of the Sword: Enhances abilities set to the first Link slot, which is Slash & Soar in this build.
  • Parry: HP Recovery +4.6: Increased HP recovery on successful parries.

Recommended Equipment Effects

Equipment Effects
MP Recovery Rate with Normal Attack ( + )
Damage Dealt at Max Break ( + )
Stamina ( + )
Silence Resistance ( + )

This build, though being defensive, is MP reliant, and so sufficient buffs via Equipment Effects are needed to replenish the MP gauge to healthy amounts. Damage output must also be maximized for the few times that players will venture out from turtling, making sure that each hit has beneficial amounts of damage dealt against enemies.
