Perhaps the best farming spot for Anima Crystals and high level equipment is found in the main mission Phantoms of the Past. To reach the farming location, you must get to the 3rd Cube of the level. You can avoid most enemies on the way, but you will have to survive two points where you need to wait for avalanches to occur to proceed.
Steps | |
---|---|
1 | From the first Cube, hug the left wall while dodging enemies. You will reach a Dark Vent that spawns enemies. Survive until the avalanche occurs, break the icicles and continue through the opening. |
2 | Run through the cave dodging the enemies. Once on the other side, turn right and go up the hill to find the second Cube. |
3 | Near the second Cube is a mob consisting of an Ogre and some Silver Lobos. Again, dodge the enemies and wait for an avalanche to occur and go through the opening. |
4 | Once in the cave, avoid the enemies and hug the left wall until you exit the cave. Next hug the right wall in the snowy area to avoid the pitfall on the left. |
5 | Rest at the third cube. Congratulations you have reached the farming location! |
6 | Around the corner is a Hippogriff that drops Anima Shards and respawns when resting at a Cube. Use Berserk, Lunatic, and Cyclone Rush to take it down easily. At level 300 it's recommended to switch from Cyclone Rush to Brutal Tackle. |
This side mission rewards 5 Anima Crystals on repeat runs and only takes a few minutes to complete. The objective is to find which random chest has the Trident in it. Luckily, the mission area is not very large, so even if you have to go to each chest it will only take about 2 to 3 minutes. You can run past all enemies with relative ease, although you may need to kite enemies on occasion.
This side mission rewards 6 Anima Crystals on when playing through repeatedly, and has the objective of finding an item in a chest, although for this mission, the required chest is in the same location every time. Note that this mission has two unavoidable mobs, each guarding a beacon that blocks your path to the chest.
Steps | |
---|---|
1 | Make sure you have access to Firaga, then from the Cube, continue to the first large room. Go straight and you will see two Bombs. Avoid them and continue up the stairs. |
2 | Avoid the Ogre and Spiders in the next room by running left. Turn right at the fork and continue to the end of the hall. |
3 | Turn right at the end of the hall and drop down. Ignore the enemies and continue to the beacon in the next room. |
4 | Before engaging the enemies, blow up the door on the right to open a shortcut in case you die. |
5 | Take out the Mindflayer and other enemies, then destroy the beacon. |
6 | Continue through the door you destroyed earlier and go right. Rest at the Cube and go up the elevator. |
7 | Follow the path and turn left when you see two enemies. Hug the left and you'll reach a room with another Mindflayer with some Flans. Ignore them. And continue to the room with the beacon. |
8 | Without aggroing the Ogre, hug the right wall and cast Firaga on the Bombs guarding the beacon to cause them to Self-Destruct. |
9 | Take out the Beacon and then backtrack to the room with two enemies from earlier. Go through the previously blocked path to find the chest to end the mission. |
Anima Crystal Farming Tips |
---|
|
Anima Crystals can only be farmed when you play on CHAOS difficulty. You can adjust the difficulty from the World Map; however, on CHAOS difficulty, to progress to the next mission level you have to farm enough Anima Crystals to unlock that level. Alternatively, you can unlock new missions in the same way as you normally would progress the story.
Similar to Anima Shards, Anima Crystals are also rewarded for completing a section of the mission, this means you can still farm Anima Crystals if you don't manage to complete the mission. Simply take note of which Cube grants you an Anima Crystal, rinse and repeat that mission, and just run towards the same Cube.
Certain optional enemies will drop Anima Crystals, so any time you see a strong enemy in an area that is to the side of the main path of progression, it's best to try taking it down as you will likely be rewarded for it.
Anima Crystals can be used to raise the mission level of missions in CHAOS difficulty. This will effectively make the enemies in the mission more difficult to take down, but will also result in getting higher leveled rewards.
Quite similar to Anima Shards, Anima Crystals can also be used to gain Job EXP to level up your jobs. Anima Crystals give you 10000 EXP for each one, as compared to the 4000 EXP you gain from Anima Shards.
