This guide explains the Affinity system in Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin. Read on to learn about how Affinity affects EXP gains towards Job Level and how to increase Affinity via Skills and Equipment Effects.

What Does Affinity Do?
Increases EXP Gained Toward Jobs
By raising the Affinity towards a Job, you raise the rate of EXP gain for that Job. Prioritizing raising the Affinity for a Job you want to play as will greatly cut down on grinding and allow you to progress more quickly.
Note: You can view the in-game tip on the Job Affinity system as well as other game mechanics from the Tips menu under Customization.
Gain Passive Buffs and Stat Increases
In the Battle Settings Menu, you can view your current Affinities in the upper left corner of the screen. Press the square button for a more detailed view of your current Job affinity bonuses. By crossing given thresholds of Affinity for a job, you will gain passive buffs and stat increases.
It is possible to gain Affinity Bonuses for Jobs you have Affinity for even if that Job is not currently equipped in one of the two Job slots. Note these effects are based on equipping weapons and armor with a desired affinity, or by unlocking passive abilities that boost Job Affinity.
How to Raise Affinity
Raise Affinity via Passive Abilities
Each Job's skill tree has passive abilities available that raise the Affinity towards that given job. After a passive ability of this type is unlocked, your base Affinity for that Job will be permanently raised regardless of equipment. It is highly recommended that you get these passive abilities early, as it will make subsequent Job Levels easier to gain and it will count towards Job Affinity Bonuses.
Raise Affinity via Equipment Effects
Stacking pieces of Equipment for higher Affinity towards a Job unlocks certain buffs and stat increases after exceeding a set threshold. You can sort equipment by Job Affinity in the Battle Settings menu by selecting a piece of equipment and clicking R3 (click in the right stick). Select Equipment with an Affinity towards a job you want to level up fast for the best effect.
