Unstoppable Axeman Build

Unstoppable Axeman
One of the primary weaknesses of any Axe-based builds is its slow attack speed combined with its generally mediocre power.

The Liberator Job has one of the best setups that can allow the Axe to trully excel, particularly when pairing the Command Ability Bravery with one of the Axe's most powerful attacks called Orbital Collision.

Command Ability Setup

Best Commands
BraveryBravery Mighty StrikesMighty Strikes LunaticLunatic
  • Bravery: Temporarily increases damage dealt by your party and gradually refills the break gauge. Useful for buffing attacks party-wide, particularly if players can increase the duration of the buff that the ability provides
  • Mighty Strikes: Similar to Bravery, except the effect is only applicable to the player controlled character. Unlocked in the Warrior Job Tree.
  • Lunatic: Buffs the player's attack speed, which helps to negate some of the Axe's slow movement speed. Unlockable in the Berserker Job Tree.

Passive and Effect Priorities

Best Passives and Effects
Cutting BattleaxeCutting Battleaxe Buff Duration +5.7%Buff Duration +5.7% Art of the AxeArt of the Axe
  • Cutting Battleaxe: Enhances abilities set to the third link (Orbital Collision in this case). Once the attack is performed, it restores HP based on the physical damage players can deal against opponents.
  • Buff Duration +5.7%: Increases the amount of time a buff remains active on the player character.
  • Art of the Axe: Strengthens attack type, bypassing enemy resistances and makes weaknesses easier to exploit. Enhances abilities set to the Alter Parry Link (Mighty Guard in this case).

Recommended Equipment Effects

Equipment Effects
・Physical Damage Dealt ( + )
・Soul Shield: MP Recovery ( + )
・Break Damage Dealt ( + )
・MP Recovery Rate with Normal Attack ( + )

This build is particulary heavy on MP use. Whether it's to activate Bravery or other Command Abilities for their buffs, or Mighty Guard for its HP replenishment, players will need a sustained amount of MP to keep them functioning well in a fight. Increase one's MP Recovery Rate through Normal Attacks is a good way to quickly replenish MP in between the player's use of abilities.

Increasing the amount of damage dealt against enemies will also help to reduce the player's reliance on MP by making sure that each swing of their weapon delivers punishing damage against their foes.

Best Job Synergies and Pairings

Tyrant

Katana
Can use shields
Basic Info The Tyrant is a master of elemental combat. This Job has the ability to imbue their weapon with an element corresponding to the magic of their choice.

Although players can reliably exploit enemy weaknesses with Ability Effects from the Liberator Job Tree, they may find the Tyrant a much more useful alternative due to its higher-tier ability to enchant its usable weapons with elements.

This ability allows its weapons to be used against any enemy in any situation, all without having to sacrifice potential weakness exploits. One potential problem can exist in the form of a lack of a viable MP Recovery scheme for either build, which can be somewhat covered by taking advantage of MP Recovery effects with Equipments.

Breaker

Katana

Cannot use shields
Basic Info The Breaker is a soul burst master. This Job has the ability to summon the Zantetsuken, a colossal blade that devastates foes. Enemies who fall by this blade will be finished with a soul burst.

The Breaker Job is one other great pairing for the Liberator – when in need of a Job that can competently take care of larger enemy groups, Breaker is the go to for mob cleanups. Highlighting powerful combos that allow players to Soul Break enemies for MP Recovery, the Job is a great pairing for the Liberator, if only for having a quick and easy way of disposing of enemies.
