Final Fantasy Origin - Status Ailments

Status Ailments in Stranger of Paradise are applied via certain skills, attacks, and abilities. Read on to see all of the status ailments in the game, including their effects when applied and how to remove them!

Types of Status Ailments

Status Ailment Description

Elemental Vulnerability
This Status Ailment is applied after taking damage from a spell that uses a certain element repeatedly. This will leave you more vulnerable to elemental spells, and take more damage during a fight.
You can avoid this by using your Soul Shield to absorb and block the spell (giving you an Instant Ability), or by evading the attack entirely.

Poison
Poison drains your character's HP over a certain period of time. This can be dangerous when in the middle of combat, as you constantly lose HP, leaving you vulnerable to a powerful attack that can suddenly take you down.
If you get hit with Poison, you can use Regen or Cure regain health, or use Potions to recover more HP quickly.

Silence
Silence prevents you from casting spells or using abilities. This means that you can only perform normal attacks, which can make fights even more challenging.
When you are hit with Silence, time your attacks carefully, and wait until the ailment has subsided.

Paralysis
Paralysis is a powerful Status Ailment that will stun your character, preventing them for moving for a short period of time. This will leave you vulnerable to any kind of attack without any chance of evading or blocking it.
Avoid spells and abilities that deal Paralysis at all costs, as this can spell the end of your journey, especially in higher difficulties.

Curse
Curse reduces your Break Gauge, which limits the amount of abilities and spells that you can perform.
• Like Silence, this limits your combat options, requiring you to slow down and be more careful with your attacks until the effect is gone.

Slow
Slow decreases the overall speed of your character. This means that quicker enemies will be able to counter your attacks and abilities.
This makes fighting difficult, requiring you to be more precise and careful when fighting.

Petrification
Similar to Paralysis, Petrification prevents you from moving or performing any action.
Along with being stunned, you also take reduced physical damage. While that may lessen the damage you take from regular weapons, you are still very vulnerable to spells and abilities.

How Status Ailments Work

Apply Negative Effects and Debuffs

Status Ailments are types of effects that deal various debuffs and handicaps to the player and party members. These effects can negatively affect your health, resistances, or even prevent you from performing certain actions during combat. It's important to avoid getting Status Ailments by avoiding enemy attacks and abilities, or by using healing spells.

Status Ailments Appear at the Bottom Left

You can see which Status Ailment is applied to you by looking at the effect icons that appear under the MP bar of your HUD. You can also see the duration of the Status Ailment, which will disappear once the timer has run out.
