Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin offers a deep and customizable experience for players that lets them play as they wish. While not having a genuine Character Creation feature, the game instead allows players to fully customize playable characters for more dynamic gameplay!

Stranger of Paradise Character Creation

No Character Creation

Stranger of Paradise, compared to Final Fantasy I on which the game is based around, does not have a "character creation" feature that allows players to customize their characters the appearance of their playable characters.

Characters in the game are instead unique individuals with their own backstory and set identities that players cannot modify.

Similar Final Fantasy I Job System

Although players won't be able to create their character from the ground up, they will however get to play around with Jobs that help players strategize different builds for their party.

This is a similar system to what Final Fantasy I features, which lets players choose from a pool of six classes the different kinds of Jobs their four characters will occupy throughout the majority of the game.

Character Customization

Play as Jack

Stranger of Paradise - Play as Jack.png
Unlike the first Final Fantasy game, where the player can control four characters with the story being left largely ambiguous as to which character is the more important of the four, Stranger of Paradise will have players assume the role of Jack.

A majority of the game occurs through his eyes, with players able to customize Jack's weapons, armors, and Jobs to allow him to reach the next stages in his power.

Job System

By contrast, Stranger of Paradise's Job System is far more rigid compared to how it was done in Final Fantasy I. Players will have to start off with assigned Jobs to each of the original three party members that you start out with. These characters can then unlock additional Jobs later on, although only Jack is capable of learning and playing with all 27 of the game's available Jobs.

Weapons and Armor Customization

The Weapon and Armor System in Stranger of Paradise is far more complex than what can be found in the original Final Fantasy I. Featuring a segmented way of assigning armor pieces to specific body parts, with each weapon or armor having unique bonuses beyond just simple upgrades to a character's stats armor and weapons pieces may also have a particular affinity to a particular Job, which increases a player's effectiveness with that Job.

Outside of the Job System, players cannot change character names or appearance, outside of visual changes when assigning characters Weapons and Armor.
