Tiamat is very agile despite its size. All six heads are capable of attacking when you are at melee range. It is recommended to keep Tiamat target-locked so you can track its movements before going in to strike. It is recommended that you keep some distance and only engage when there is a clear opening.
Tiamat mainly uses Wind-based Attacks like Tempest and Whirlwind. While these are avoidable if you stay out of range, you can feed your teammates to Tiamat with Ally Resonance, and charge up ice-based magic like Blizzara and Blizzaga to deal very high damage and deplete its break gauge in the process.
After soulbursting it once, Tiamat will start to execute attacks when it lowers itself down, exposing its necks. This is the best moment to slash at the necks to deal lots of damage. Cutting off its heads staggers it momentarily creating a window of opportunity to deal break damage.
At the second half of battling Tiamat, you have to focus on dealing break damage to deplete its break gauge, dealing physical damage will be a secondary concern. If you deal enough physical damage but leave its break gauge intact, it will use Regen to heal itself over and over again. Invest in combos and commands that increases your more break damage.
