List of Contents
Lightbringer is the defacto best Command Ability in the game, and is in fact locked as one of your four Command Abilities (L2 + circle). Lightbringer makes it far easier to reduce enemy break gauges, and will finish enemies with a Soul Burst.
Soul Bursts will instantly finish off a broken enemy regardless of remaining HP, and the resulting shockwave also deals break damage to nearby enemies. Additionally, finishing an enemy with a Soul Burst (from Lightbringer or otherwise) recovers MP and raises your max HP.
Lunatic is an excellent Command Ability from the Berserker Job Tree for any build as it increases attack speeds across the board. This not only applies to heavy weapons like Axes and Greatswords, but also to casting Magic as well.
The only drawback is that your automatic Break Gauge recovery stops while this Command Ability is active, but this can be overcome by learning the Combo Ability Effect Arcane Axe which refills your Break Gauge based on damage dealt.
Blood Weapon heals HP based on damage dealt. This ability is useful across the board for any Job as it increases survivability and incentivises focusing on DPS. Gain this Command Ability by leveling up the Marauder Job Tree.
Seal of Blood powers up your next attack, which may not sound like much considering Lightbringer lasts longer and can take out multiple enemies quickly, but Seal of Blood is great for dealing large, calculated bursts of damage in boss fights when depleting the break gauge with Lightbringer is more difficult. Also if you manage to hit more than one enemy with it, it will often one shot most enemies.
On top of that, Seal of Blood can be applied to any type of attack and only costs one MP bar compared to Lightbringer's two. Obtain this Command Ability by leveling up the Black Mage Job Tree.

Lancet | Recover HP and MP whenever exploiting an enemy's weakness for a certain amount of time. | 1 | Dragoon |
Seal of Blood | Increases the damage dealt by the next ability. Enemies broken or brought to 0 HP by this attack will be finsihed with a soul burst. | 1 | Black Mage |
Chakra | Cures status ailments, and temporarily increases your resistance to status ailments. | 1 | Monk |
Command Abilities can be changed at any time from the Main Menu under Battle Settings. The Command Abilities section will be located to the lower left of the screen. Selecting one of the slots will open a menu displaying all the Command Abilities you have learned so far. Select the desired Command Ability to switch it into one of the slots.
Command Abilities can be activated during combat by holding L2 and the face button corresponding to the Command Ability you want to activate. As long as you have enough MP, the Command Ability will activate instantly.
Command Abilities are abilities that must be learned from a Job Tree and set to an input of L2 + any face button. Once a Command Ability has been learned and the input has been assigned, any Job can use these abilities in combat, making them very versatile.
Lightbringer will automatically be set to L2 + circle and cannot be removed from your Command Abilities, but the remaining three slots are open for customization.
