Certain rewards are only eligible in non-story difficulties. Quantities of items such as Anima Shards also vary depending on which difficulty you're on.

Schemes of the Past Walkthrough

Objectives

Schemes of the Past - Objective 1
・Follow the Purple Floor Lights
・Proceed to the Second Floor
At the start of the mission, you will notice that some lights in the floor are colored purple. Keep following it until you reach a breakable wall that leads to a teleporter. After using the teleporter, keep following the purple lights until you reach another staircase that leads to a Cube.

・Continue Going Up
After passing by the Cube, fight more enemies and follow the tiles until you reach a locked door that requires the Key of the Worthy

・Find the Key of the Worthy
・Continue Going Up
On the left of the locked door is another staircase that allows you to reach the next level to find a chest that has the key, go back down to use the key to find a room that contains weapons and armor.

Return to the staircase and keep going up to the next level. Keep following the purple lights on the floor until you reach a breakable wall that leads to a teleporter. Before going to the Teleporter, you can also go to the left and drop down a hole that leads to a Cactuar.

・Use the Teleporter
・Find the Key of the Phantoms
Use the Teleporter to enter a new area that has a Tonberry. Defeat the Tonberry to explore the area and find some chests.You will be able to find a Cube near the central area by following the purple floor lights to the left.

Opposite of that path is another breakable wall with a Malboro guarding a chest that contains The Key of the Phantoms. Return to the Cube and unlock the nearby door that leads to an elevator that leads to a large red crystal that you can interact with. Return to the Cube and to the area where you got the key to proceed further up.

Schemes of the Past - Objective 5
・Reach the 8th Floor
・Find the Maiden's Key
Reach the 8th floor from the area of the Malboro to find the door that's locked. You need to find the Maiden's Key to unlock it. Return to the Cube area on the previous floor, and use the nearby staircase to climb to the other side of the 8th floor. This area has a teleporter that you can use.

You will reach the 9th floor which contains a Yellow Crystal that you can activate. Near the Crystal is a chest that contains the Maiden's Key. Use the elevator nearby to reach the locked door to find a Dark Vent that you need to break. This leads to the room where the 3rd Crystal is located.

・Return to the 9th Floor
・Defeat Iron Giant
After activating all Crystals, return to the 9th floor and use the teleporter on the other side. You will reach a Cube and a door that leads to the Iron Giant. Defeat it to complete the mission.

The mission area is a set of winding paths that can be confusing. However, following the purple lights on the walls and floors allow you to find the right way in and out of areas. This also leads you to stairs and teleporters, which are very handy in helping you get around the entire level.
