How to Deal More Break Damage
Dealing break damage is an efficient approach to fighting enemies in Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin. Read on to learn how to deal more break damage as well as tips and strategies on how to deal break damage more effectively!

How to Deal More Break Damage

Use Action Abilities

Use Action Abilities
Using Action Abilities will inflict heavy HP and break damage to enemies as well as reduce their max break gauge. The more an enemy's max break gauge is reduced, the longer it will take them to recover from break damage. This opens up opportunities for you to land Soul Bursts.

Reducing Enemy Max Break Gauge

Its worth noting that regular R1 attacks can only damage an enemy's break gauge and over time, this can refill back to full. Activating Abilities with R2 can reduce the max break gauge of an enemy, effectively keeping its max break gauge at a certain limit.

Deal Critical Damage

Deal Critical Damage
Attacking enemies from their rear will inflict critical damage. Critical hits inflict more HP and break damage than regular hits. Critical hits are presented in yellow text along with the corresponding value of the damage.

In addition to attacking from the rear, equipping Duelist will give you access to Weak Spot. This job ability allows you to deliver a slashing attack that always critically hits.

Exploit Enemy Weaknesses

Exploit Enemy Weaknesses
Most of the enemies encountered in the game will be weak to certain physical and elemental attacks. You can exploit these weaknesses to deal even greater HP and break damage than usual. When enemies receive attacks they are weak against, the text WEAK will appear along with the corresponding value of the damage.

Wall Splat

Soul Burst Effect
There are abilities that will cause enemies to fly in a direction. When they hit a wall because of these abilities, they receive even more break damage.

Increase Job Affinities

Increase Job Affinities
Certain jobs have the benefit of passively increasing break damage dealt by equipping weapons that increase their respective job affinities. You can increase job affinities by equipping weapons with the specific affinity associated to it.

Tips and Strategies

Equip Useful Weapons

Attacking with certain weapons will deal more break damage than others. Checking the weapon's stats in the Battle Settings menu will show you how much added break damage it will have.

Switch to More Appropriate Jobs

Certain Jobs benefit from unique passive and active abilities that increase their break damage. An example of this is Monk's Job Ability: Focus. When Focus is activated for a certain time, it allows you to deal an increased amount of Break Damage.

Activate Lightbringer

Activate Lightbringer

Lightbringer is a command ability that augments your attacks with increased break damage. This is the first command ability available and is arguably the most useful. Activating this in combat along with the relevant weapon and job can combine to provide copious break damage to help you in combat.
