How to Soul Burst

Deplete Enemy Break Gauge

Steps
1
Deplete your enemy's Break Gauge.
2
Wait for the Soul Burst prompt to appear.
3 Deplete Enemy Break Gauge
Press the corresponding Soul Burst button (Circle for Playstation users) on your controller.

All of the enemies you encounter in the game will have a Break Gauge underneath their HP bars. The Break Gauge is the yellow bar that you can deplete by attacks and combo abilities.

Once you've completely depleted your enemy's Break Gauge, you can walk up and perform a Soul Burst. It's worth noting that while in the Soul Burst animation, enemies will not be able to inflict damage on you.

Soul Burst Uses and Effects

Finish Him

Finish Him
You can use the Soul Burst mainly to finish enemies without having to empty their HP bars. This can save you MP and allows for quicker skirmishes.

Recover and Raise Your MP

Recover and Raise Your MP
Successfully executing enemies by way of Soul Burst will not only recover MP but raise your max MP altogether. Having increased MP will allow you to perform more combo abilities so there really isn't a disadvantage to using this method.

Essential to Level Progression

Essential to Level Progression
In addition to the finishing off enemies, you will encounter Dark Vents during your missions. These Dark Vents also have a Break Gauge that when depleted, you can perform a Soul Burst and they will stop sending out enemies.

There are also Dark Vents that are stationed in key areas that you need to destroy. For this type of Dark Vent you will need to Soul Burst it in order to go to the next area of a level.

How to Skip Soul Burst Animations

Disable Option In Settings

While Soul Bursts are a nifty aspect of the game, there may be players who would want to opt out of the Soul Burst animation and just continue playing. There is an option to enable Short Soul Burst Animations that can be found in the Basic Settings.
