Once you have been detected by a Fuel Pool from a distance, it will shoot out globs of oil at you. These hits provide low damage, but does contribute to you being inflicted with the Oiled Status Ailment if you take enough hits.
When striking Fuel Pool enemies up-close, be wary of its ability to release oil all around it. It will begin to inflate itself, a tellatale sign that it will release a burst of oil that can quickly give you the Oiled Status Ailment.
Fuel Pool enemies, particularly if there are more than one of them, are quite difficult to manage due to their use or oil projectiles as part of their arsenal. The best way you can avoid these projectiles is to keep moving towards their direction, where they will switch to trying to burst oil at you. This reprieve, while dangerous, is also a valuable opening you can exploit to strike at them.
As enemies that use Oil as their method of attacking, Fuel Pools are very vulnerable to the use of Pyrokinesis. Using Special Object Attacks to drop drums of Oil on top of them makes them quite vulnerable to getting the Burning Status Ailment as well once you hit them with Pyrokinesis powered attacks.
