Unlock the More Rare Monsters mastery by opening the blue chest inside Snowshard Grotto. Opening blue chests becomes accessible later on after you’ve upgraded the Church to Level 3, so make sure you progress your town a bit first.
Once equipped, this mastery increases the appearance rate of rare monsters and Caits immediately become noticeably more common.

The Lucky Coin works exactly like the More Rare Monsters mastery, as it also boosts your rare monster encounter rate. You can get it by recruiting Tressa and progressing far enough in the Kindlers of the Flame arc to unlock the Amity mechanic in Wishvale.
After that, use Inquire Further on Tressa twice, with the second inquiry requiring a Tressalad, and she’ll reward you with the Lucky Coin. The effect stacks with your mastery, so wearing this accessory alongside More Rare Monsters maximizes your Cait encounter rate in the game.

Caits don’t have fixed spawn points in Octopath 0. Once your rare-monster gear is equipped, you can find them anywhere from the routes between towns or inside dungeons.
Their appearance rate is always low, so farming them simply means creating as many encounters as you can. With your Cait farming boost setup on, almost every region becomes a valid Cait farming spot.

Caits are notorious for high evasion and for running away almost immediately. Soulstones solve both problems at once because they never miss, making them one of the most reliable ways to take down a Cait before it escapes. As soon as you see one, throwing a Soulstone is often the safest play.

If you prefer using physical attacks, buffing your Accuracy and Attack helps counter a Cait’s high evasion and defense. Anything that increases your chance to hit makes the fight less coin-flippy, especially if your party relies on standard attacks or weapon skills.

Multi-hit attacks are incredibly helpful because each strike gives you another chance to connect. Even if the first hit whiffs, the second or third might land and finish the job.
