Inquire is often the first path action you can make on a townsperson. It reveals information on a person such as their background, possessions, Helper Skill, Resident Skill, and Known Info.

Contending will lead to you battling with a townsperson. If you manage to defeat them, you will receive rewards which may include items, equipment, and even Action Skills. However, keep in mind that losing or fleeing a battle results in a loss of town reputation.

Entreating allows you to obtain the possessions of a townsperson. Each possession has its own success rate, so be careful in choosing which item to entreat and attempt only on those with higher rates.

Some townspeople will be selling items and equipment. You can use the haggle Path Action to lower the selling price, getting yourself better deals than if you were to buy the same items from a shop. Take note that once you have purchased an item, it will no longer be sold by the townsperson.

Some townsfolk can be recruited as a helper in combat. Helpers can be summoned in battle and have their own Helper Skill that they can use to attack enemies. Townspeople can be recruited either directly through the recruit option, being hired with money, or impressed through battle.

Certain townspeople can be invited to Wishvale. People who become Wishvale Residents will have their own Resident Skill that can contribute to the village and aid you in your journey.

Path Actions are actions that are taken outside of combat when interacting with townspeople. When performing a Path Action, they have the chance to succeed or fail depending on a given success rate, which is determined by your influence stat and town reputation.
| Influence | Path Actions |
|---|---|
| Wealth | Haggling for items, Recruitment |
| Power | Inviting NPCs to your town |
| Fame | Entreating, Recruitment |
The higher your stat on a specific influence, the greater your chances of success. You can increase your influence stat by completing main story quests or influence quests.

Having a bad town reputation prevents you from using Path Actions until your reputation is restored.
You have only 5 chances before your reputation goes sour. If you fail on a Path Action, such as losing a contend battle, you lose 1 chance.

Once you lose all 5 chances, you will need to go to the barkeeper in the town's tavern and pay a fine to get your reputation restored so you can use Path Actions again.
