Battle Skills are the skills characters can use in combat. These skills range from offensive physical and magical attacks, recovery spells, and buffs and debuffs.

Boon of Healing |
When using an HP recovery skill, extend duration of target's augmenting effects by 1 turn. |
Above is an example of a Support Skill and its effect upon activation.
Support Skills are passive abilities that augments the user and their party members upon triggering the skill's requirements.
These skills are unlocked by unlocking a certain number of Job Skills and can be toggled to the player's liking.

Action Skills is a new mechanic introduced in Octopath Traveler 0, where allies can learn skills they initially could not learn from their respective Jobs.
These skills are unlocked via story progression, and by using the Training Ground.

Ultimate Techniques are powerful skills that requires filling up the Ultimate Technique gauge in order to execute. The gauge is filled up when performing actions such as breaking an enemy.
Once players manage to have the Ulitmate Technique gauge hit Level 1, the gauge's progress will be carried over to the next battle.
