It is recommended to have Warrior as your first job due for its stats and battle skills.
Warrior gives you high base stats with a strong Phy. Attack and Phy. Def, making it an easy powerhouse during the early game. It also offers Battle Skills that can increase attack power, lower defenses, and deal high damage, giving you great advantages in combat.

Because of your early game composition, Warrior offers weapon variety to the party. It might take a while for you to recruit more party members at the start, so it is better to choose Warrior to cover sword and polearm weaknesses, which are common against most enemies.

Even if you choose to make Warrior your starting job, you can use Action Skills to be able to use stronger attacks, or even elemental attacks to cover more enemy weaknesses.
You can get Action Skills by using Path Actions like contending or entreating with townspeople.

Jobs can be changed later on in the Protagonist's Job screen under the Skills menu. However, you will need to unlock Battle Skills in order to learn a new job.
