Use Steal on a Cait in order to get materials to build a Cait Statue. Having a Cait Statue in your village will increase the amount of EXP and leaves you earn from battle.
Caits are cat-like creatures who drop high rewards, but are very evasive. It is likely that during your first few encounters, a Cait may escape before you defeat them.

If you equip the protagonist with the Thief job, they will be able to use the Steal skill right away. Steal allows you to potentially steal an item from an enemy. It is possible to fail, so you may need to Steal multiple times before succeeding.

The lower an enemy's HP is, the higher the chances of a successful Steal. You can tell if an enemy's HP is low by either using the Analyze skill using a Scholar, or by checking if the enemy's name is highlighted in either yellow or red.
You can also get the Steal Mastery from the Brigand Boss in Cragspear. You will need to entreat in order to receive it as a reward. Once you have the Steal Mastery, you can equip the skill on any thief character.
Therion
|
Therion is the only thief party member who starts out with Steal aside from the protagonist. You can find Therion in Cragspear after defeating Dreige in Gray Grotto.
