How to Beat Amatsukami no Orochi

Break His Shield Before to Avoid an Instant KO
Amatsukami no Orochi will gain a BP charage every time his turn ends. Once he reaches 7 BP charges, he will use an ultimate attack that deals 9,999 damage to all characters on the field, instantly killing your party.
You'll want at least three characters focusing on attacking the main boss and using boosted attacks to quickly deplete his shields throughout the fight, while the rest should slowly damage the dragon orbs and provide support and healing.
Have Sazantos Use Divine Flame and Boosted Phantom Strike
Sazantos should be considered as the main attacker for this fight since his Divine Flame skill allows him ignore weakness for two turns to damage the boss' shield.
With the Divine Flame buff and several boosts, his Phantom Strike skill can deal huge shield damage to Amatsukami no Orochi and his dragon orbs in just one turn.

Amatsukami no Orochi will constantly change his weakness at the end of his turn which makes breaking his shield very challenging. Fortunately, he's consistently weak to Light and Dark damage in each of his weakness changes.
Have characters that can inflict these two damage types during the fight, specifically characters that have skills that can hit twice during the fight. Great choices include Alexia who can use Duskblight which deals dark damage to all enemies twice, as well as the Protagonist with the Scholar Job who can use Blinding Light which deals light damage to all enemies twice.
Bring Support Characters that Provide HP Regeneration
Since you'll be racing to break the boss' shield throughout the fight, support party members that provide HP regeneration through several turns are better for this fight compared to characters that provide upfront burst healing.
Good options for this fight include Saoirse with her Dance of Repose, as well as Laurana with Ethereal Healing. The Protagonist with the Apothecary Job can also fill this role thanks to their Heal All skill.
