Octopath Traveler 0 - How to Grow Vegetables
Vegetables and other crops will yield harvest after the player has completed enough battles in Octopath Traveler 0 (Octopath 0). Read on to learn more about how to grow vegetables, how to unlock the fields, where to find vegetable seeds, and how to unlock the fields.

Complete Kindlers of Flame Chapter 2

In order to unlock the fields, you must complete Chapter 2 of the Kindlers of Flame questline. This is unlocked after you recruit Phenn and build the Tavern.

Once you finish this quest, the fields will be unlocked.

Assign Residents to the Fields

Assign Residents to the Fields
Basil is the designated manager of the fields, which means you cannot replace him with another resident.

However, you can assign a second resident to the fields. Margot is a solid choice, as her Resident Skill increases production speed.
How to Invite Residents

Find Seeds

Path Action Purchase Seeds
You will receive a handful of seeds once you unlock the fields. However, if you want to grow a larger variety of crops, you will need to use Path Actions on the NPCs that hold the right seeds.

You will only receive one of each type of seed. This is because seeds are an infinite resource. Once you harvest the crops, they will stay there and grow another batch. You may take advantage of this and continue to grow them, or even plant them on another plot of land.

Complete Battles to Yield Harvest

Growing Vegetables Tutorial
Speak to Basil, then choose which vegetables or crops to grow in each plot of land. Afterwards, you will need to complete several battles in order for the crops to grow. You may run around areas that have random encounters if you want a fast harvest.

You may speak with Basil again in order to check the yield progress. Once it has reached 100%, you may interact with the fields in the overworld in order to harvest your crops.

What to Do With Vegetables

Cook Meals

Cook Meals
You may cook meals with the vegetables that you harvested. Consuming food will temporarily raise certain stats for a set number of turns. They are best used when dealing with difficult boss fights.

Sell to Shops or Merchants

Sell Vegetables or Meals
You may also sell your harvest for a small price. Alternatively, you can also cook meals and sell those instead, as they tend to fetch a higher price.
