Finish the Game Once

Before you are able to obtain the true ending for Wei (Cao Cao's Forces), you must first complete the game and obtain the normal ending for Wei. Doing so will unlock the Story feature, which you can access while resting at inns. Story allows you to replay previous missions with your current level and equipment.

Save Dian Wei in Escape From Wan Castle

If you finished the game once while aligned with Cao Cao's Forces, you can easily obtain the true ending for Wei by opening up Story mode from an inn, and finding the golden banner above the Chapter 4 mission Escape From Wan Castle, and replaying that mission with the intention of saving Dian Wei from death.

Save Guo Jia in Battle of Mt. Bailang

After completing the above mission and saving Dian Wei, open up the Story menu in an inn to find another golden banner on the Battle of Mt. Bailang in Chapter 5. Replay this stage and save Guo Jia.

Defeat Huang Gai in Battle of Chibi

Play through the Battle of Chibi as usual, first and most importantly defeating Zhuge Liang in the southwest, along with other enemy generals after he has retreated. Guo Jia will soon ask you to head to the target location, a yellow flag, on the map.

Head to this location. If you arrive too early before the winds have changed, Guo Jia will ask you to maintain a distance. Once Guo Jia says that the winds have begun to shift, head to the yellow flag on the map to confront Huang Gai and defeat him. If you are successful, you will receive the Fate Altered notification.

Play to The End

At this point, you have done everything you need to unlock the true ending. Just, finish the rest of the mission and play to the end to unlock the true ending for Wei.

How to Save Dian Wei

In order to save Dian Wei, speed is of absolute importance. All of these steps must be accomplished in a little less than 11 minutes for you to succeed at saving Dian Wei.

• Capture the Northeast and Northwest Bases
• Defend Your Southern Base
• Clear As Much of the Outside Castle as You Can
• Rush to Western Gate Once Laddermen Appear
• Climb the Ladder and Clear Out the Castle
• Clear Out Remaining Officers Outside

Capture the Northeast and Northwest Bases

We recommend starting with capturing the northeastern base, as the path is straightforward. Then, rush toward the northwestern base and capture that as well.

Defend Your Southern Base

Zhang Xiu's Forces will attempt to capture your southern

Clear As Much of the Outside Castle as You Can

Head to the central area outside the castle where the rest of Cao Cao's Forces are and defeat as many enemy officers as you can, making this general area safer for Cao Cao, Xiahou Dun, and Guo Jia.

Rush to Western Gate Once Laddermen Appear

Once the laddermen appear, quickly rush to the northwestern gate and quickly reduce the enemy count in this area so that the laddermen will be able to set up their ladders safely.

Climb the Ladder and Clear Out the Castle

Climb up the ladder, and find some stairs that lead down to the inner castle, where enemies have surrounded Dian Wei. Take out all enemy officers inside the castle grounds. Doing so should raise Dian Wei's marker from an unsafe red to a safer blue.

Clear Out Remaining Officers Outside

Once you've defeated the enemy generals inside the castle grounds, head out the western gate and defeat all remaining enemy generals outside the castle. If you've successfully done all of this, Dian Wei will survive this outcome after a cutscene.

How to Save Guo Jia

This stage is much simpler than saving Dian Wei but still requires speed. Follow these steps to ensure Guo Jia survives and fate is altered.

• Capture All Bases to the West
• Defeat Bailuan
• Finish the Mission as Usual

Capture All Bases to the West

As soon as the battle starts, rush westward and capture every base on the way to the western side of the map. If you've done this quick enough, Guo Jia will mention that everything is going according to plan.

Defeat Bailuan

At this point, Bailuan will appear on the west side of the map. Rush to this area and defeat him. You will know you have succeeded when he retreats from battle, Guo Jia comments about exceeding expectations, and you receive a Fate Altered notification on screen.

Finish the Mission as Usual

After defeating Bailuan, you are free to finish the mission as usual. You may need to rush to the southeast to rescue Cao Cao from a losing battle. After making sure he's safe, join Xu Huang in the charge against Yuan Shang's Forces in the north, and defeat Bailuan for a second time to finish the battle.

After a few cutscenes, Guo Jia should survive from his illness.

How to Join Wei Faction (Cao Cao's Forces)

1. Reach Chapter 3
2. Complete Contributions for Cao Cao
3. Choose to Join Cao Cao's Forces

Reach Chapter 3

The branching paths for the three factions begins in Chapter 3. None of the choices you've made in Chapter 1 and 2 will affect which faction you join, as everything is decided in Chapter 3, so make sure you're at this point of the story.

Complete Contributions for Cao Cao

While in Chapter 3, you will be asked to make Contributions toward the three factions' forces. Make sure to complete at least one Contribution towards Cao Cao's Forces in order to open up the Wei route, which naturally leads to the Wei ending.

Choose to Join Cao Cao's Forces

If you have completed Contributions for two or more factions, you will be forced to choose between them. However, completing Contributions solely for Cao Cao will very likely make you enemies with the other two factions, so you will have no choice but to side with Wei.
