Death Penalty: What Happens When You Die or Lose in Battle?

Dynasty Warriors Origins What Happens When You Die or Lose in Battle

Dying or losing in a battle allows you to recreate the battlefield or restart the mission in Dynasty Warriors: Origins. Find out what happens when you die or lose in battle and ways to avoid it here!

What Happens When You Die or Lose in Battle?

Either Recreate Battlefield or Restart the Mission

Dynasty Warriors Origins Either Recreate Battlefield or Restart Mission

Dying or losing in medium and large-scale battles results in the same outcome: restarting the Mission. However, you don’t need to worry, as the game lets you Recreate Battlefield and select a specific point to resume from.

Keep in mind, though, that restarting a Mission—even through recreating a battlefield—will overwrite any items you may have collected after the chosen reset point.

Recreating the Battlefield is Useful

Choosing to Recreate Battlefield lets you revisit the events leading to your defeat and provides an opportunity to correct your mistakes by selecting a point before they occurred.

You can use the controls above the timeline to scrub through and review the progression of events. Each black node marks a Base capture, serving as a reference point. Use this feature to turn the tide in your favor, armed with the advantage of hindsight!

Skirmishes Need to Be Restarted

Dying in a Skirmish is handled differently. Since these are small-scale, straightforward battles, the battlefield cannot be recreated, and the Skirmish will need to be restarted entirely from the World Map.

Aid Commanders in Critical Condition

Commanders that are in critical condition will verbally indicate that they are in need of help, and can be tracked on the minimap with a sweat mark icon on top of their Commander icon. Be sure to readjust your priorities and swoop in to help them, especially since the winning conditions rely on them being alive!

Pay Attention to Morale

Dynasty Warriors Origins Pay Attention to Morale

In large-scale battles, having high Morale also plays a crucial role in your chances of victory, as it directly influences how well your troops perform when rallying against the enemy even without your active help.

Since Morale fluctuates as the battle progresses, focus on defeating enemy Officers first. This will slightly boost morale, making it easier to capture Bases which raises morale even further.

Be Proactive With Healing

Dynasty Warriors Origins Always Be Proactive With Healing

Equipping consumables like Meat Buns or Vitality Pills will greatly increase your chances of survival, especially on higher difficulties. If they ever run out, you may quickly look for any Meat Buns dropped by enemies or inside Meat Bun Pots at bases to serve as a quick pick-me-up during a hard fight!

How to Heal

Equip Gems and Accessories That Aid in Health

Dynasty Warriors Origins Equip Gems and Accessories that Aid in Health

Equipping the Wellspring Gem or an Accessory like the Qilin's Horn, which provide passive healing, can help when consumables run scarce. Additionally, equipping any accessories that boost your health or defense can ensure that your journey does not end prematurely.

Consider Adjusting Game Difficulty

If losses outweigh victories, it might be wise to consider adjusting the game's difficulty to one that suits your playstyle better. This can be done outside of battles, through the Configuration tab in the Pause Menu.
