Victory Condition: Defeat Yuan Shang
This mission's primary objective is to defeat Yuan Shang at Mt. Bailang, putting an end to the Yuan clan and securing the region of Hebei. Defeat Yuan Shang and his reinforcements while ensuring that Cao Cao is not overwhelmed to attain victory.
Defeat Condition: Cao Cao is Forced to Flee
The mission will end in a loss if Cao Cao is forced to flee. Taking too long to finish the battle or not assisting Cao Cao when Yuan Shang's forces to attack puts him at risk of being overrun. Swiftly make your way to Yuan Shang's camp to avoid defeat.
How to Unlock Battle of Mt. Bailang
Finish Battle of Ye
The Battle of Ye is the previous mission before this one. Once aligned with Wei (Cao Cao), simply go through the main story missions in Chapter 5.

Go Down the Western Route
Once the battle begins, seek out and defeat the nearest enemy officers. Guo Jia will offer some dialogue that quickly goes over the strategies to win the battle. Yuan Shang will suddenly launch a counter offensive and send plenty of reinforcements towards Cao Cao.
Assist Cao Cao
While you can try to blitz and capture enemy bases, the battle will be lost if Cao Cao is made to flee. Instead of heading too far out after defeating the first few enemy officers, head back to Cao Cao and clear out all enemies. After assisting, return to the conquest of the Western Route.
Conquer All Enemy Bases to the West
If you are able to conquer the Western bases fast enough, Guo Jia will mention that 'things are going according to plan'. Shortly after, Bailuan appears. Defeat him to get the Fate Altered notification, saving Guo Jia.
You have to save Guo Jia as one of the conditions needed to achieve the Wei True Ending.
Defeat the Wuhuan Cavalry
Once you reach the top-most Western part of the map, you'll encounter the Wuhuan's powerful cavalry. You'll be facing a large force here, so stay on guard as the multiple Chariots can force you into a knockdown loop. Beating back the cavalry will cause the remaining Wuhuan forces to regroup with Yuan Shang's main force.
Defeat Yuan Shang's Large Force
At this point, Cao Cao's forces will form up on the top-Western side of the map, preparing for a final clash with Yuan Shang. Jump into the fray and take out Yuan Shang. You don't need to bother much with Yuan Shang's Large Force as defeating him first causes this force to instantly retreat.
Defeat Bailuan
Fog will slowly begin to creep in after defeating Yuan Shang. Guo Jia and Cao Cao will comment about the fog's odd nature, after which Bailuan then reappears. Face and defeat Bailuan in a Boss Battle to complete the mission.
Battle of Mt. Bailang Rewards
Weapon Proficiency
Weapon proficiency is awarded on the weapon/s used during the battle. Raising proficiency ranks up Wanderer, and reaching specific ranks can unlock skill trees that can enhance his performance in combat.
Skill Points and Mount EXP
Skill points and Mount EXP are also awarded based on the number of enemies defeated and which Horse was used.
These rewards vary greatly depending on the Wanderer's performance during battle.
