Victory Condition: Take the Xiapi Castle
Conquer and occupy Xiapi Castle to achieve victory.
Defeat Condition: Cao Cao is Forced to Flee
The mission will end in a loss if Cao Cao is forced to flee. Just make sure to help Cao Cao during fights to avoid defeat.
How to Unlock Assault on Xiapi
Finish Battle of Xiapi
To unlock Assault on Xiapi, you have to finish the previous mission Battle of Xiapi in Chapter 4 and must side with the Wei (Cao Cao) Faction.

Target the Floodgates
When the battle begins, allied officers will insist that you not face Guan Yu directly. Your alies will point out that the enemy is probably aware about the surrounding rivers that could be used against them, but opt to still try to use the Floodgate to your advantage.
Deal with Enemy Reinforcements
As you head towards the Floodgate, Liu Bei and Zhang Fei will appear to reinforce Guan Yu's forces. While you don't need to defeat them to progress the mission, you'll have to keep an eye on the status of allies and be ready to provide assistance to prevent Cao Cao from fleeing.
You can engage with Liu Bei's forces to try and draw Guan Yu to his location, or leave your allies to fend for themselves as you try and take the Floodgate.
Lure Guan Yu
Luring Guan Yu to the Floodgate is shorter and easier. If you're near the target location, you can simply run past his forces as they intercept your's. Head directly for the Castle Gate and defeat the Enemy Officers standing guard to gain entrance.
Defeat Guan Yu
Guan Yu's forces will eventually alert him of the breach, leading to an inevitable Boss Battle with Guan Yu. Defeat him to complete this mission.
Assault on Xiapi Rewards
Weapon Proficiency
Weapon Proficiency will be rewarded based on the weapon/s used in battle. Ranking up weapon proficiency raises Wanderer's level, and reaching certain levels will unlock new skill trees to spend skill points on.
Skill Points and Mount EXP
Skill points and Mount EXP are also awarded based on the number of enemies defeated and which Horse was used.
These rewards vary greatly depending on the Wanderer's performance during battle.
