The initial Victory Condition for this battle is to capture Ye castle by defeating Yuan Shang. After doing so, the condition will shift towards defeating Yuan Tan once he reveals his betrayal to Cao Cao. Pace yourself and defeat the two brothers to ensure victory.
Keep an eye on Cao Cao and Guo Jia's health bars as any of them getting defeated will cost you the battle. Selecting Guo Jia as your companion will make it easier for you to guard him. Rush to their aid whenever they're in dire situations to restore their health.

This is the 1st mission of Chapter 5 if you decided to go down the Wei route back in Chapter 3.

At the start, Xun You and his forces will divert from the main group in order to flank the enemy through the alternate route. You can leave them to do it themselves, but it would be faster if you assisted. Reaching the top of the route will signal Xun You's forces to ambush.
At this point, Yuan Tan's forces will also start to advance to catch up with Cao Cao.

If you selected Guo Jia as a companion before the start of the battle, you only have to keep a close eye on Cao Cao left. Remember to constantly check his health with Eyes of the Sacred Bird, especially whenever you divert from his group.
How to Use Eyes of the Sacred Bird

The siege towers and catapults are essential in this battle. Capturing the first base allows Cao Cao's engineers to construct the siege towers that can get you over their defensive walls. On the other hand, capturing the second base allows the engineers to construct catapults to counter the enemy's catapults.
Feel free to restore your health with the Meat Bun pots inside these bases as well.

Battling at the east gate can get hectic with the amount of things going on. Focus on clearing a path for the siege towers as they can get destroyed when they have taken too much damage. They can be rebuilt, although it takes quite a while and they will be pushed back from their original position, delaying the battle.

To ease even more pressure off your forces, take down archer towers by instructing your guards to destroy them once you are near them.

Once the siege towers reach the walls, secure Cao Cao's safety first by eliminating the enemies by the east gate. Cao Cao will station himself outside the gate, waiting for you to open them.
You can use this to your advantage by leaving Cao Cao there to assist the allied forces to the south. Capture the two south bases in order to push the enemies by the south gate to surrender.
The surrendered soldiers will join your forces and storm through the south gate with you. From there, you can head over to the east gate and open it to let Cao Cao in.

At the center of the castle, you will face Yuan Shang, a Staff user. Depleting enough of his health will give you an offer to duel with him.

After defeating Yuan Shang, Bailuan will appear along with phantom soldiers. At the same time, Yuan Tan will turn on Cao Cao and instruct his soldiers to attack your forces.
It is advised to go after Bailuan first in order to get rid of the phantom soldiers. Clearing them out will make dealing with Yuan Tan much easier. Defeat him to accomplish victory!

Weapon Proficiency will be rewarded based on the weapon/s used in battle. Ranking up weapon proficiency raises Wanderer's level, and reaching certain levels will unlock new skill trees to spend skill points on.

Skill points and Mount EXP are also awarded based on the number of enemies defeated and which Horse was used.
These rewards vary greatly depending on the Wanderer's performance during battle.
