How to Save Dian Wei
Replay Escape From Wan Castle
In order to save Dian Wei in Chapter 4 during the battle called Escape From Wan Castle, speed is of absolute importance. All of these steps must be accomplished in a little less than 11 minutes for you to succeed at saving Dian Wei.
Do note that you can save Dian Wei even before the post-game. But, if you already finished the mission, then you can replay it through the Story Mode mechanic after beating the game once.
- Capture the Northeast Base
- Defend Your Southern Base and Capture the Northwestern Base
- Rush to Western Gate Once Laddermen Appear
- Enter the Western Gate and Clear Out the Castle
- Finish the Main Story Mission
Wei True Ending Guide (Cao Cao's Forces)
Capture the Northeast Base
We recommend starting with capturing the northeastern base and making sure to capture it before the cutscene where several archers shoot fire arrows to the Wan Castle triggers.
After defending the northeastern base, we recommend fighting off the reinforcements that will appear on the bottom right side of the map.
Defend Your Southern Base and Capture the Northwestern Base
Another set of reinforcements will attack the southern base. Defend the southern base first before rushing towards the northwestern base and capturing it.
Rush to Western Gate Once Laddermen Appear
Once the laddermen appear, quickly rush to the western gate and quickly reduce the enemy count in this area so that the laddermen will be able to set up their ladders safely.
Enter the Western Gate and Clear Out the Castle
Instead of climbing the ladder, wait for the western gate to open and defeat the four officers inside the castle grounds. If you approach the fourth officer on time, Huche'er's dialogue will pop up. This means that you defeated the three officers fast enough and can still save Dian Wei.
Finish the Main Story Mission
Once you've defeated the four officers inside the castle grounds, Dian Wei will survive this outcome after a cutscene with the Fate Altered screen showing up. After this, finish the mission normally.
Rescuing Dian Wei Tips
Use Grade 8 Weapons if You Have Them
It will be faster for you to defeat enemy officers on the battlefield if the weapon you are using is grade 8. But, if you have not unlocked any Luan weapons then buy a grade 7 weapon in the shop during post-game instead!

Lower the Difficulty
If you are having a hard time rescuing Dian Wei, we recommend lowering the difficulty to Historian. By doing this, you can defeat officers and enemies much faster!

Anonymous 9 monthsYou dont need to do this in 11 minutes, you can beat the mission in that time without saving dian wei. You need to get clear the way to the northwestern gate as fast as possible to set up the ladders. If you dont clear it fast enough you won't hear the proper dialogue.
