How to Save Sun Jian

Replay the Battle of Xiangyang

To save Sun Jian in the Chapter 3 mission Battle of Xiangyang, you must reach Sun Jian before Huang Gai does. In order to do this, speed is of absolute importance.

Do note that you can save Sun Jian even before the post-game. But, if you already finished the mission, then you can replay it through the Story Mode mechanic after beating the game once.

Rush West and Clear the Path for Sun Ce

Immediately head westward and defeat enemy generals in the way to make it easier for Sun Ce's army to advance. Capture the first enemy base you come across.

Defeat Phantom Zhang Jiao

After capturing the base, head out the gate into a large, open battlefield. Immediately turn left toward a gate that leads to the southwest of the map. Here, you will fight a phantom of Zhang Jiao. Use every skill and ability at your disposal to defeat him as quickly as you can.

Reach Sun Jian Before Huang Gai Does

At this point, Huang Gai will return to save Sun Jian. If Huang Gai had reached Sun Jian first, you would have failed to save him. As soon as you defeat Zhang Jiao's phantom, rush toward Sun Jian before Huang Gai reaches him in order to alter fate and save Sun Jian.

Rescuing Sun Jian Tips

Equip Grade 7 or Stronger Weapons

It will be faster for you to defeat Phantom Zhang Jiao if the weapon you are going to use is grade 8. But, if you have not unlocked any of the Luan weapons then we recommend just buying a grade 7 weapon in the shop after completing the game once.

Lower Your Game's Difficulty

If you are having a hard time rescuing Sun Jian, we recommend lowering your game's difficulty to Historian. This way, you can defeat enemies and the Phantom Zhang Jiao much faster!
