Horses are animal mounts that can be summoned and ridden by the protagonist during battles. Riding horses is a great way to quickly travel around the map.
They also have abilities that take effect only when they're ridden or summoned, such as increased mounted stability, extended maximum mounted charge distance, and stagger nearby enemies when summoned.

Certain horses can only be unlocked after fulfilling specific objectives on specific difficulties. These horses often have better Speed and Endurance stats, as well as providing you with better and more unique mounted skills.

Horses can be obtained by progressing through the main story. Walnut is the first horse players can obtain in the story.
List of All Main Story Missions
After acquiring the first horse Walnut, subsequent horses can be claimed as a reward at the nearest Waymark within a province after raising its Peace Level.
You can level up horses by clearing battles and missions (orange icon with a guard's silhouette)!
Do note that random skirmishes will not level up your mounts.
Horses can be mounted or ridden by first summoning them during battles using the Call Horse Button. Once a horse is summoned, the protagonist will automatically mount it.
To dismount, simply press the Dismount button.
The only way to equip gems is through the Battle Preparation under the Equipment tab. Once on the Equipment tab, simply select the Horse slot, then choose a horse from the available selection.

| Call/Summon | Calls or summons the currently equipped horse. |
| Mounted Attack | The protagonist performs an attack with the his weapon while mounted on the horse. |
| Mounted Charge | The horse dashes at high speeds in exchange for expending Endurance, knocking up and damaging enemies in its path. |
| Assault | The protagonist leaps from its horse and performs an attack. |
| Block | The protagonist raises its weapon to block incoming attacks. |
| Jump | The horse jumps, allowing it to leap over obstacles. |
| Dismount | The protagonist gets off the horse. |
Besides being able to summon and ride your horse during Battles, you can also ride it when traversing the Overworld, allowing you to move faster.
