Completing this mission requires Wanderer and Cao Cao to reach the exit found at the southwest corner of the map. However, doing so will be a challenge due to Lu Bu's pursuit and Cao Cao's behavior during the mission.
Cao Cao will be constantly stalled by enemy generals and will not disengage in combat until the enemy's defeat. When Lu Bu catches up with the duo, Cao Cao will usually attempt to fight him instead of focusing on escaping.
It is recommended to keep an eye out for Cao Cao's position and see if he's in combat or not. Immediately provide aid and defeat his enemy to continue the escape whenever possible.
The battle will end in defeat if Cao Cao's health is depleted. While the enemy generals will not be enough to defeat Cao Cao, his habit of remaining in combat will stall the escape and allow Lu Bu to catch up. Avoid this event by slaying Cao Cao's target and immediately continue the escape.
After the Rebellion of the Ten Attendants battle, speak to Wang Yun on the map to trigger multiple events and cutscenes. The Assassination of Dong Zhuo becomes available as soon as the events end.

It is strongly recommended to avoid fighting Lu Bu in this battle. Defeating him will not unlock any hidden achievements, and both his damage and moveset are deadly enough to kill Wanderer after a few hits.
Fortunately, his walking pace is slow and encountering him won't be likely as long as the player focuses on the win condition: escaping with Cao Cao to the southwest gate.
After the events at the throne room, immediately exit the location and head to the nearest gate down south. Defeat Hu Feng as soon as possible, as this fight holds the highest risk of Lu Bu joining in the fray.
While the southern gate is open, Cao Cao will stop and engage in combat with Hu Feng. It is imperative to defeat Hu Feng quickly to continue the escape and gain distance from Lu Bu.
After Hu Feng's defeat, head further down south to encounter Zhang Liao. Feel free to ignore the troops and the other generals in the vicinity and focus on taking down Zhang Liao due to his increased Fortitude.
Zhang Liao drops the Twin Eagle Pikes weapon, unlocking the Twin Pikes weapon type for Wanderer. This is the earliest possible point to unlock the Twin Pikes, one of the best weapon types in the game.
It is recommended to save enough gauge for at least 1 Musou attack for the next fight. The upcoming battle will involve two lines of troops armed with shields, potentially stalling the escape for Lu Bu to catch up.
After Zhang Liao's defeat, head east towards the treasure room. Use a Musou attack to clear the line of shielded troops quickly and create a path, or use various arts to break their shields.
Upon breaching the shielded troops, defeat the generals along the way and enter the treasure room where Dong Min lies in wait. He drops a Red Rush Staff, unlocking the Staff weapon type for Wanderer.
List of All Weapons and How to Get Them
After felling Dong Min, use the Eyes of the Sacred Bird to highlight the secret entrance south of the treasure room. Interact with the ornate cabinet to find the hidden passage. Enter the passage to exit to the prison cell area.
From the hidden passage, enter the prison area and defeat Wang Feng outside the cells. Slaying Wang Feng frees Xun You and the other prisoners, who will cause a distraction that will stall Lu Bu in the prison area.
Enter the room west of the prison area to encounter the final set of troops blocking the escape route. Rush towards Gao Shun at the far west side of the room and engage in combat until Xiahou Dun and Xiahou Yuan arrives.
Cao Cao will engage in combat with Gao Shun and will not head towards escape point until Gao Shun is slain. Defeat Gao Shun to reunite with Cao Cao and escape the vicinity to complete the mission.
The Twin Pikes weapon can be unlocked after defeating Zhang Liao past the first gate. This weapon type has mobile and continuous combos suitable for eliminating entire troops.
The Staff weapon is unlocked after defeating Dong Min in the treasure room. This weapon is known for its range and mobility allowing Wanderer to pounce and jump around the battlefield.
Weapon Proficiency is awarded to the weapon/s used during the mission. Ranking up proficiency raises Wanderer's level, and reaching certain levels will unlock new skill trees that improves his performance.
Skill points obtained and Mount EXP gained can vary greatly based on mission performance. Using Horses during the mission grants Mount EXP, and the amount of skill points awarded depends on the number of enemies slain.
