During the early game, it is recommended to keep progressing the story first. More weapons and functions will be unlocked by doing so, which in turn opens up more gameplay options for new players.

It is also recommended to use a lot of weapons. Each weapon type has its own proficiency level, and increasing these in turn increases your rank. Increasing your rank gives you more stats, as well as new skill trees to explore.

At the start of every chapter, stores will carry decent weapons that can be used until stronger alternatives are found. Don't hesitate to buy these to give yourself an edge in combat.

There will be NPCs that appear on the map every so often; be sure to speak with them as they can grant several useful things, like optional missions for rewards, or training missions for more skill points.

Various materials will spawn in the overworld, such as Pyroxene. Collect these whenever you can as these can be used to upgrade things like gems.

To have an easier time dodging in battle, prioritize unlocking the Chain Evasion skill. This allows the Wanderer to dodge twice in succession, greatly increasing your window of safety.

Another set of utility skills to prioritize are Meat Bun Glutton and Endurance Boost: Spur On. The former increases the amount of healing you have available in battle, while the latter increases mounted mobility.

Enemies have a Fortitude Gauge displayed as several orange shields under their HP bar. Dealing damage to them depletes Fortitude, and draining all of it immobilizes enemies and opens them up to an Assault attack.
During Dynasty Warriors: Origins gameplay, you have the option of dodging or parrying enemy attacks to nullify them. In the early game, it is easier to focus on dodging, as there are special enemy attacks that cannot be blocked.

Meat Buns can heal players when consumed, and can be found in pots and other containers scattered across the battle map. Do not hesitate to use them if your HP is low, as you can find more later on in the stage.

If you have the Meat Perceiver Skill, you may open the menu and look for a bun icon on the minimap, as this indicates that you can obtain a bun from breaking pots in that area.
Another gameplay mechanic to take advantage of is to mount your horse, as this drastically increases movement speed through dashing with the horse. Use it to move between bases quickly.

Battle Arts cost Bravery to use, and can quickly deplete enemy Fortitude. Bravery is naturally generated by doing damage, so don't hesitate to use it on Battle Arts, as they can quickly stagger enemy officers.

Another gameplay aspect that players can utilize are the Eyes of the Sacred Bird, which stops time to allow players to unleash Tactics that can deal heavy damage and greatly deplete Fortitude.
Tactics have long cooldowns, so use them against tougher enemies to help break through their defenses.
The Musou Gauge fills up as you continue to fight through a stage. You can spend it when it's full to activate War God Rage, enhancing your attacks and making you impervious to damage.
You also get access to the True Musou Attack, which deals massive amounts of damage to enemies in range. Use it to go on the offensive and quickly take out key objectives and officers!

Each weapon has its own set of combos that, when executed, unleash powerful moves that are stronger than the basic attack strings. Be sure to check out what your weapon can do to maximize your damage on-field!
