How to Unlock Wheels

Obtain in Chapter 2: Suppression of You Province

The Wheels are unlocked by defeating one of the officers in Chapter 2: Suppression of You Province.

How to Use Wheels

Upgrade Attacks When Catching

What's unique about the Wheels is how you can upgrade attacks when you catch thrown Wheels. You will need to calculate a bit however, as the timing for catching thrown wheels can vary, thus affecting whether or not you can gain the upper hand in battles.

Use Strong Attacks

It's recommended to open engagements with a Strong attack. Primarily, the Wheels's bread and butter is the Upgraded evading attack, which requires Wheels proficiency to be atleast Level 5. Until then, you can keep using normal strong attacks.

Use Wheels Battle Arts for Enemy Officers

Upgraded attacks can be a bit trickier to land on enemy officers, especially if they have full Fortitude. To work around this, open fights with either an evading strong attack or a well-placed strong attack to build Musou. With enough gauge, batter officers down with Battle Arts.

Wheels Recommended Combos

Upgraded Heavy Attack

Input Description
PS5 - Triangle Button the moment you recover it
XBOX - Y Button the moment you recover it
Right Click the moment you recover it
 [Upgrade] Unleash more wheels.

Hitting a Heavy attack when you catch returning Wheels upgrades it into a strong AoE attack, clearing fodder around the Wanderer when surrounded.

Upgraded Evade Attack Input

Input Description
PS4 - Left Stick + PS5 - Triangle Button at the moment of recovery while PS4 - R2 Button evading
XBOX - Left Stick + XBOX - Y Button at the moment of recovery while XBOX - Right Trigger evading
W ButtonA ButtonS ButtonD Button + Right Click at the moment of recovery while Space Button evading
 [Upgrade] The wheels spin around you.

Much like upgraded Heavy attacks, catching wheels when they return and performing an evade will give you auto-circling wheels for a limited time, allowing for extra hits and freedom to do other things.

Best Combos to Use

Wheels Arts

Arts Bravery Req. Effect
(Sp.) Tornado Slam (Sp.) Tornado Slam 4 Use the wheels you're holding to sweep at anything around you.
Sp. Effect:
Able to stop certain attacks and stagger the enemy.
Claw of the Predator Claw of the Predator 3 Throw your wheels forward. They will come flying back while pulling in enemies.
Crawling Dragon Crawling Dragon 2 Throw your wheels upward. After a set amount of time, they will fall from above and greatly stagger the enemy.
Flying Lotus Gambit Flying Lotus Gambit 6 Throw a number of wheels one after another. All thrown wheels return to you.
Flying Ring Rend Flying Ring Rend 1 Throw your wheels forward. Can be performed rapidly.
Flying Spirit Wave Flying Spirit Wave 4 Throw a number of wheels one after another. Performing this move just as you recover a wheel increases the number of wheels thrown.
Harvest Moon Harvest Moon 3 Throw your wheels forward. The wheels spin around for a set amount of time and do not automatically return, but can be recovered when nearby.
Relentless Rings Relentless Rings 1 Control your wheels as they fly through the air. The rapidly spinning wheels will viciously slice all surrounding enemies.
Triple Tempest Triple Tempest 3 Throw multiple wheels around you while spinning. Can strike enemies in all directions.
Twin Tiger Blast Twin Tiger Blast 8 Throw your wheels forward, making them spin around to launch enemies into the air, and then strike airborne enemies with fire arrows, causing an explosion that sends them flying.
