The best gem to use is the Wellspring Gem, as it greatly increases longevity by simply defeating enemies in combat. The passive Health gain is strong enough to sustain through an entire battle if one doesn't take too much damage.

1. Wellspring Gem

The Wellspring Gem provides a small heal after defeating a certain amount of enemies. While it seems minute, the consistency and relative ease of its activation conditions make it significantly stronger than it seems.
