Step Explanation
1 Unlock the Indigo Memories: The Stabbed Hidden Side Mission in The Suffering of Fools.
2 Complete Indigo Memories: The Stabbed to unlock the Smith Hammer III.
3 Select the Smithy on the main menu to raise the Job Affinity of a Weapon or Armor.

Job Crests can be used to raise the Job Affinity of a specific piece of Weapon or Armor at the Smithy. However, even if you have a Job Crest, it is not usable until you obtain a specific item: Smith Hammer III.

This item is a reward for completing the side mission: Indigo Memories: The Stabbed. This side mission is hidden, and can only be unlocked by interacting with a Memory Memento purple orb in the main mission: The Suffering of Fools.

At the beginning of the mission, go to the left gate to the Path of the Forlorn.

After crossing the first bridge that goes upwards, go to the right to find an area filled with spike traps and holes.

Go down on the hole on the right. This is the one with the bones sticking out.

Drop down to find the Stranger's Memory that unlocks the side mission.

Raise Job Affinity with Job Crests at the Smithy

Once you obtain Smith Hammer III, you can now use Job Crests to raise the Job Affinity of a chosen weapon or piece of armor.

I cannot find Smith Hammerlll. I have the first two hammers but my third one is leveling up weapons, nothing about crests.
