The king of the dark elves, Astos lives in the Western Keep. It's said that he knows the location of the crystals. Although possessing a certain beauty, he carries an air of pestilence. Astos Background

King of the Dark Elves

We first get introduced to Astos as the King of the Dark Elves in the main mission Audience with the Dark Elf. For subsequent missions, he plays a minor role in directing the team towards the locations of the other crystals.

Jack's Accomplice

At the end of the main mission The Suffering of Fools, Astos reveals his true identity to Jack and his companions, that he was originally a Cornelian turned into a pawn of the Lufenians the same as Jack and the rest of his companions.

We find out the Astos is actually Jack's accomplice from a previous timeline, guiding Jack in his quest to take revenge on the Lufenians for taking away their memories and resetting the world over and over. Astos is unaffected by this world reset and has been working in the shadows to help Jack realize his goals. After turning into the Ultima Weapon Origin, his demise at the hands of Jack becomes instrumental to learning the truth about their shared past.
