The Halloween Terror Event is an annual seasonal event in Overwatch 2. This year, it runs from October 25 to November 8 and features the new game mode Junkenstein's Revenge: Wrath of the Bride. Read on to learn about the event's seasonal skins, game modes, challenges, and more!

Halloween Terror 2022 is scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM on October 25, 2022 (PDT) and concludes on November 8, 2022 (PST). It features a new co-op mission alongside seasonal skins, cosmetics, and other rewards.

New Game Mode: Wrath of the Bride

This event features a co-op mode known as the Junkenstein's Revenge: Wrath of the Bride. Take the roles of Sojourn, Kiriko, Junker Queen, and Ashe as they defend Eichenwalde from the retribution of the Bride, Sombra.

Difficulty Modes for Wrath of the Bride

While there are no Challenge Missions available for this event's newest game modes, you can still choose between 4 difficulties, Story, Hard, Expert, and Legendary, and see how you measure up against the Bride and her allies!

Each difficulty increases the enemy's HP and the number of enemies you encounter for each part of the game mode. It's recommended that you choose the Story difficulty first and climb up the difficulty levels if you aren't familiar with the game mode.

Halloween Terror 2022 also features new unique skins for Overwatch 2's three latest heroes: Witch Kiriko, Executioner Junker Queen, and Detective Sojourn. Kiriko's skin is part of the event's Witch Kiriko Bundle, but the method of unlocking the other two skins has not yet been revealed.

Return of Junkenstein's Revenge

This year's Halloween Terror also marks the return of the original Junkenstein's Revenge Brawl for a limited time, letting players relive the battle against Dr. Junkenstein and his army of Zomnics.

Halloween Terror 2022 also offers rewards for watching Overwatch 2 streamers from October 25 to November 1. Connect your Twitch and Battle.net accounts on the official site, and watch Overwatch 2 streams to get the following cosmetic rewards:

Double XP Weekend and Free Rewards

Halloween Terror 2022 also includes its own Double Match XP Weekend, running from October 28 to October 31. This period also marks the distribution date of the free Cursed Captain Reaper Legendary Skin and Health Pack Weapon Charm, which Blizzard provides as compensation for their server issues on launch.

Halloween Terror Challenge Missions

Available Only For Junkenstein Mode

Challenge Missions returns in this year's Halloween Terror event available for Junkenstein Mode. Players will be able to choose between 6 modified versions of the featured game mode, such as a reduced 3-player team or faster-moving Zomnics.

Challenge	Details
	In this challenge, an invincible ghost impedes the players as they try to complete Junkenstein's Revenge. This vengeful ghost damages the players and cannot be defeated.
	As the in-game description implies, the Zomnics in this challenge move faster, increasing the difficulty. Other than that, everything else is the same as the regular Junkenstein's Revenge.
	Instead of the regular 4-player teams, players will form a 3-person team to take on Junkenstein's Revenge. It's not all doom and gloom, however, as each player's damage output is also increased to compensate for the diminished manpower.
	When defeating an enemy it may randomly spawn a Shock-Tire in its place. Shock-Tires usually only spawn during boss waves in the regular version of Junkenstein's Revenge, but in this challenge, they also spawn during regular enemy waves.
	In this challenge, whenever Zomnics get within close proximity to the player they explode, damaging the player.
	In this challenge, players' heroes randomly swap mid-battle. This 'mystery swap' happens at frequent intervals.

Halloween Terror Overview

Annual Seasonal Event

The Halloween Terror Event is held every year from mid-October to early November. When it was first introduced in 2016, the Junkenstein's Revenge Game Mode was also introduced. Since then, it has been expanded to include Junkenstein's Endless and, most recently, Wrath of the Bride.

In this year's Halloween Terror event, players can obtain rewards by completing the event challenges, which will give them Battle Pass XP and cosmetics. Previous Halloween Terror Event had a wide range of Halloween-themed skins and other cosmetics such as sprays, icons, emotes, and intros available through weekly challenges, loot boxes, and purchases.

Previous Years

• 2021: The 2021 Halloween Terror Event went from October 12 until November 2.
• 2020: The 2020 Halloween Terror Event went from October 13 until November 3. Weekly missions were introduced, featuring a variety of gameplay differences each week in how enemies behaved and interacted. Finally, Baptiste and Ashe were added as playable characters.
• 2019: The 2019 Halloween Terror Event went from October 15 until November 4. It introduced weekly challenge rewards as a way to earn Halloween-themed cosmetics
• 2018: The 2018 Halloween Terror Event went from October 9 until October 31. Brigitte and Tracer were added as playable characters in Junkenstein's Revenge. Finally, the Château Guillard deathmatch map was given a Halloween-themed makeover.
• 2017: The 2017 Halloween Terror Event went from October 10 until November 1. It introduced the game mode Junkenstein's Endless Brawl, as well as Torbjörn, Zenyatta, Genji and Widowmaker as playable characters.
• 2016: The original Halloween Terror Event went from October 11 until November 1, 2016. This event introduced many of the current mainstays of subsequent Halloween Terror Events, including the Junkenstein's Revenge Co-op Brawl Mode, which featured Cassidy, Soldier: 76, Ana and Hanzo as playable characters. In this mode, they team up to take down Dr. Junkenstein (Junk Rat) from the Junkenstein Comic. It also featured Halloween-themed skins and cosmetics and Halloween-themed loot boxes.

Halloween Terror Lore

The Halloween Terror Event has its own lore in the form of official spin-off comics. There are 2 so far; Blizzard Entertainment #9: Overwatch 'Junkenstein' and Blizzard Entertainment: Overwatch Halloween Terror 2017 'The Return of Junkenstein'. In these 2 short comics, the tale of how 4 heroes take on the evil Dr. Junkenstein and his creations bring peace to the town of Adlersbrunn.

Halloween Terror Previous Brawls

Junkenstein's Revenge

In Junkenstein's Revenge, players team up in a 4 player co-op PVE brawl. Each player chooses one out of a limited roster of heroes to defend the castle doors in the fight against Dr. Junkenstein and his fiends.

If a player dies, they respawn after a 12-second wait period. If at any point, all 4 players are simultaneously eliminated, the game ends. If the doors are broken down by the enemy (all door health is eliminated) the game ends. The players win by successfully defeating all of the enemies and bosses.

Junkenstein's Endless

Similarly to Junkenstein's Revenge, players form a 4-person team from a limited hero roster. They then must take down 12 waves of enemies and bosses to win. Additionally, 15 bonus waves and a final boss battle proceed with the first 12 waves. However, it is not considered a loss if these bonus waves are failed.

As with Junkenstein's Revenge, if all players are simultaneously eliminated, or the castle doors are destroyed, the game is over. This mode is faster-paced than Junkenstein's Revenge, with regular waves of enemies and bosses every minute.
