Mercy and Symmetra Updates and Junker Queen First Impressions | Developer Blog #4

Overwatch 2 - Developer Blog #4
In the 4th Overwatch 2 developer blog released on July 7, 2022 developers talked about changes to a few heroes. Read on to check changes to Mercy and Symmetra as well as the first impressions on Junker Queen

Week 2 Beta Information

Bug Fixes

According to the development team, players will have to be a little more patient in waiting for patches due to some technical limitiations. The team have said, however, that there will be mid-cycle patches for Moira and Mercy.

Address Player Feedback

While the community asked for a nerf to Symmetra's Teleporter range, the developer has kept it as-is. It's range is the same coming into the 2nd week of beta tests, at 30.

Mid-Cycle Patches

The shift to 5v5 matches left some heroes in need of an update, particularly Symmetra. Mercy herself will be getting an update to her Guardian Angel ability.

Mercy Guardian Angel Bug

Developers have fined tuned the Guardian Angel bug, which launched players into the air with the right timing. Now, cancelling Guadian Angel with a jump will launch players in the air.

The development team will also give players more control over the Guardian Angel in a couple of weeks. Players will also have a meter that charges when the ability is active.

Symmetra Nerfs and Buffs

In general, Symmetra's passive ability to gain ammo from barriers have been removed.

This was done because barriers are less prevalent in the new game. Three main changes were done to Symmetra's attacks. While these are a lot of changes, developers have said that some may not stick at all.

All Buffs
・Secondary Fire projectile size increased from .4 back to .5
・Secondary Fire charge time reduced from 1.2 seconds back to 1 second
・Teleporter cooldown reduced from 16 seconds to 12 seconds
・Primary will charge to Level 3 faster

Junker Queen First Impressions

Offensive Tank

While still in her test-run, Junker Queen has been seen as an offensive-style Tank Hero. Developers note that there are still more to test especially before Overwatch 2's release.

Tank Queues Improve

With many people queueing in the Tank class to play as Junker Queen. Queueing in the Damage role has become a bit easier. This is to be expected once a new character drops.
