New Queen Street Tips and Strategies

Take Advantage of Choke Points

New Queen Street features plenty of narrow pathways and corners that act as choke points for advancing teams. Use the environment to your advantage when securing barricades by playing heroes like Sigma, Reinhardt, and Junkrat, who excel in holding down narrow pathways with their abilities.

Utilize the Map's Verticality

New Queen Street offers plenty of natural cover alongside a high vertical skybox. These characteristics make it an excellent map for Heroes like Pharah and Echo, letting them attack their foes from multiple angles before retreating into and behind the map's buildings.

Be Mindful of the Map's Urban Terrain

New Queen Street's urban terrain provides plenty of flanking routes through and behind the map's numerous stores and structures. Due to this, be particularly mindful of flanking heroes like Genji, Reaper, and Sombra in this map, as they can take advantage of the terrain to strike from unexpected angles.

Team Explanation

This team composition uses New Queen Street's winding roads, narrow streets, and ample flanking routes to its strength.

  • Sigma is a strong and well-rounded frontline Tank in New Queen Street, providing cover in narrow streets with Experimental Barrier and absorbing dangerous projectiles with Kinetic Grasp. He also offers respectable damage and crowd control in team fights with his explosive Hyperspheres and disruptive Accretion. Lastly, Gravitic Flux is incredibly potent when fighting against clumped-up teams around barricades and the map's numerous road turns.
  • Ashe is a potent frontline marksman in New Queen Street, excelling when fighting in tight choke points with her high-damage Viper headshots and Dynamite explosions. Her Coach Gun also acts as a versatile mobility tool, letting Ashe access certain flanking routes and vantage points while also being an escape tool in a pinch. Lastly, B.O.B. helps Ashe and her team contest barricades while acting as an excellent source of additional damage and crowd control.
  • Genji is the team's flanking Damage Hero, quickly navigating New Queen Street's flanking routes with Cyber-Agility and taking down key enemy targets with Shuriken and Swift Strike. Dragonblade is also a devastating ultimate in New Queen Street, as it lets Genji quickly tear through teams that carelessly group up behind barricades and along the map's winding roads.
  • Baptiste is an excellent support for New Queen Street, offering strong area-based healing with Biotic Launcher and Regenerative Burst when fighting along the map's narrow streets and tight choke points. His Exo Boots also allow him to reach vantage points and catch up with his team faster. • Lúcio is a solid secondary Support, providing amazing utility and survivability for his teammates. Speed Boost allows him and his teammates to reach and secure the Robot faster, while Healing Boost offers even more area-based healing on top of Baptiste's skills. Alternative Tanks

  • Orisa: Orisa works well as an alternative, well-rounded Tank in New Queen Street. Despite her lack of a barrier, she can still effectively soak up damage and block enemy projectiles with Fortify and Javelin Spin. She also has strong disruptive tools in Energy Javelin and Terra Surge, each of them incredibly potent when used in fights along the map's narrow streets and tight choke points.
  • Reinhardt: Reinhardt is another strong Tank option for New Queen Street. Like Sigma, he can efficiently cover his team in long, narrow pathways with his massive Barrier Shield. Fire Strike and Earthshatter are also potent skills for taking on and wearing down enemy teams that clump up around barricades and along the map's numerous choke points.
  • Roadhog: Roadhog is a great aggressive Tank in New Queen Street. His Chain Hook and Scrap Gun let him quickly pick off crucial enemy targets, giving his team a numbers advantage on most engagements. Whole Hog is also effective at breaking enemy positions and cornering dangerous foes along the map's cramped roads and paths.

Alternative Damage

  • Pharah: Against team compositions without much hitscan or crowd control, Pharah can be an excellent alternative frontline Damage Hero. She deals an incredible amount of area of effect damage with her Rocket Launcher and Barrage, amplified by New Queen Street's narrow streets and tight pathways. She also has excellent aerial mobility with Jump Jet and Hover Jets, letting her take advantage of the map's decent amount of verticality.
  • Reaper: Reaper is another strong Damage option for New Queen Street. Using Wraith Form and Shadow Step, he can navigate and take advantage of the map's numerous flanking routes and natural cover. In addition, with New Queen Street's environment well-suited for close and medium-range firefights, Reaper gets plenty of mileage out of his high-damage Hellfire Shotguns and Death Blossom.
  • Soldier: 76: Soldier: 76 is another potent frontline Damage Hero for New Queen Street. Using Sprint, he can quickly reach the Robot to establish map control and constantly reposition to attack the enemy team from different angles. Soldier: 76 also offers strong hitscan with Heavy Pulse Rifle and Tactical Visor, making him a strong and stable damage dealer in close and medium-range firefights.
  • Sombra: Sombra is an excellent alternative flanking Hero for New Queen Street, capable of maneuvering through the map's numerous flanking routes with Stealth and Translocator. Her Hack is also incredibly potent on this map, letting her disable key enemy targets and allowing her to take control of the map's tight spread of Health Packs. EMP is also a devastating ultimate when used to initiate teamfights along the map's narrow streets and choke points.

Alternative Supports

  • Brigitte: Brigitte is an excellent alternative Support for aggressive teams in New Queen Street. She can reliably follow and assist Damage Heroes in the frontline with Rocket Flail and Inspire, as well as protect her allies and push away threats in tight choke points with Barrier Shield and Whip Shot. Rally is also a strong ultimate for pushing and defending barricades, allowing Brigitte to move around faster while providing temporary health to her allies.
  • Mercy: New Queen Street provides Mercy with plenty of cover and ample amounts of aerial space, letting her become a solid alternative Support on the map. She is incredibly potent when paired with Damage Heroes she can focus her healing and damage boosts toward, such as Pharah, Reaper, and Soldier: 76.
  • Moira: Moira is another potent Support in New Queen Street. Biotic Grasp and Biotic Orb allow her to heal multiple allies and wear down foes from a distance, with the latter capable of bouncing between the map's narrow paths and road turns. Moira also has Coalescence, which allows her to simultaneously heal her teammates and damage her foes, giving her a potent ultimate for attacking and defending barricades.
