Overwatch 2 - Content Roadmap
According to the most recent developer roadmap shared with players, Overwatch 2 PvE will be releasing in 2023. Developers have not yet given a specific release date other than it releases next year.

While Overwatch 2's multiplayer is now live, PvE mode is still in development at the time of writing.

PVE Mode is a 4-Player Co-OP Story Mode

Game Lore Focused Story Mode Similar to Archives Events

Overwatch 2 PvE mode is a 4-player Co-Op experience that follows the game's lore. This mode will be similar to events such as the Archives event, Storm Rising.

Players will partake in Co-Op missions to defeat enemy A.I. in waves, all while following a storyline.

Similar to a Campain or Story Mode

PVE Story Mode Map Overwatch 2
While Overwatch 2 is not a campaign or story driven game, the new PvE mode will be quite similar, featuring missions that contain a storyline and push the overall story of Overwatch 2 forward.

Previous events like Storm Rising had players go through stages, allowing them to choose to play the heroes set for the story or any character they wished.
