Newcomers looking to jump into Overwatch 2 will first have to create an account from Battle.net and download its launcher. Read on to learn how to download and start playing Overwatch 2!

Create a Battle.net Account
A Battle.net Account is required to play Overwatch 2 on every platform. You can create your own Battle.net account here!

Input your country and date of birth. |

Alternatively, you can sign-up by connecting to your Facebook, Apple, or Google accounts. |
| 3 |  Give your first and last name. |
| 4 |  Input the email address you will use. |
| 5 |  Review the terms. |
| 6 |  Set your password. |
| 7 |  Create your unique Battle Tag. |
| 8 |  Download the Battle.net App. |
| 9 |  Once you finish installing the Battle.net App, open it and log in with your newly created account. |
| 10 |  When you're done logging in, select the "All Games" tab in the launcher and select Overwatch 2 from the list. |
| 11 |  In the Overwatch 2 page, click on the "Play For Free" button to start downloading Overwatch 2! |
Phone Number Is Required
To play Overwatch 2 as a newcomer, you need to provide a phone number and have it verified through their website. This is due to the SMS protection put in place by Blizzard to ensure the game is well protected against cheaters.
Visit https://account.battle.net/, log in to your account and set your phone number in "Account Details".

Pre-Load Availability
Pre-Downloads Were Available Starting September 30
Before Overwatch 2's release, existing Overwatch players and those who purchased the Watchpoint Pack were able to preload the game at 1:30 PM (PDT) on September 30, 2022. Existing console players, on the other hand, were only able to pre-load the game by 9:00 AM (PDT) on October 4, 2022.
Players who didn't own Overwatch 1 or the Watchpoint Pack were not allowed to pre-load the game until Overwatch 2's release on October 4, 2022.
