Overwatch 2 servers underwent scheduled maintenance starting 8:30 PM PDT on October 7, 2022. The maintenance ended early at 9;00 PM — all regions are back online!

All Fixes and Updates

Removal of SMS Requirement Goes Live

As per the announcement for yesterday's status update, the removal of the SMS requirement for existing Overwatch players with connected Battle.net accounts and console players who played since June 9, 2021 will now go live in today's maintenance.

Accounts not connected to Battle.Net prior to Overwatch 2's release or newly created accounts are still required to enable SMS Protection to play the game.

Updates on Account Merge Issue

While the issue has not yet been fully resolved, Blizzard has taken action on the Account Merge issue stating that they have made progress by updating their database and increasing bandwidth to complete these merges.

As a reminder to players who lost their collections and progress from the original Overwatch game, you can rest assured as your data is not lost and will most likely be recovered once the issue is fixed.

An issue regarding console players, commonly found on the PlayStation, who are unable to see the items available from the Watchpoint Pack will have a fix in today's maintenance.

Although Blizzard has resolved the majority of the issue encountered by players in yesterday's patch, a small group of players is still experiencing the LC-208 error, preventing them from logging in. A fix for this problem is set to deploy in today's maintenance.
