Esperança Description

Esperança, in Portugal, takes players through a stunning town that combines modern and traditional Portuguese stone architecture. This locale's interconnected streets and buildings provide varying routes and angles of attack for both teams, making it a great stage for Push matches.

Esperança Tips and Strategies

Utilize Terrain with Wrecking Ball

Wrecking Ball is particularly strong on Esperança due to the plethora of buildings and high flanking routes he can use. Use his Grappling Hook on structures like the spire at the center of Esperança and the map's numerous archways to hit effectively disrupt enemy positioning with Roll and Piledriver.

Take Advantage of Straight Pathways

Esperança features plenty of straight pathways alongside numerous vantage points. Take advantage of these characteristics by using sniping Heroes like Widowmaker, Ana, and Hanzo to land lethal headshots from afar.

Hanzo is particularly strong in these sections of the map, as his Dragonstrike ultimate is capable of completely covering the narrow terrain and dealing with grouped-up foes pushing the barricade.

Utilize Café Caravela's Rooftop

When fighting near the center of Esperança, remember that you can reach and use the rooftop of Café Caravela to your advantage. Sniping heroes like Widowmaker can use it as a vantage point due to the location's great sightlines, and flanking heroes like Genji can use it as a hiding spot before taking down the enemy team's backline.

Team Explanation

This team composition uses Esperança's long sightlines, ample flanking routes, and narrow roads to its strength.

Reinhardt is the team's frontline Tank, efficiently protecting his allies along narrow pathways with Barrier Shield. Due to Esperança's compact environment, Reinhardt can efficiently use Fire Strike to wear down grouped-up foes and easily get in range to take down enemies with Rocket Hammer. Charge and Earthshatter are also potent crowd-control abilities when fighting around choke points and straight roads.
Ashe is a potent frontline marksman on Esperança. Her Viper rifle and Dynamite allow her to deal heavy burst damage along the map's long sightlines and tight choke points. She also has a versatile mobility tool in Coach Gun, letting her access Esperança's vantage points and safely disengage from fights with its heavy knockback. Ashe's ultimate, B.O.B., helps her team contest barricades while acting as an excellent source of additional damage and crowd control.
Sombra is the team's flanking Damage Hero, speeding through flanking routes undetected with Stealth. She acts as a persistent and deadly annoyance to the enemy team, using Hack to disrupt their abilities, make them more susceptible to damage, and prevent them from using Health Packs. Sombra also survives for longer in Esperança since she can control the map's Health Packs and hide her Translocator along the hidden back streets. Her EMP ultimate rounds out her lethality, inflicting Hack and dealing percentage-based damage to all nearby foes.
Lúcio is an excellent Support in Esperança, offering incredible utility for his team while speeding through the map's straight, uninterrupted walls with Wall Ride. His Speed Boost and Amp It Up are particularly strong, letting his team quickly reach and secure the Robot before their foes arrive. His Soundwave and Sound Barrier are also potent tools, with the former capable of pushing away threats and the latter providing massive temporary health.
Moira is another potent Support in Esperança. Her Biotic Grasp and Biotic Orb allow her to heal multiple allies and wear down foes from a distance, with the latter capable of bouncing between the map's narrow roads. Fade is also a potent mobility option in Esperança, allowing her to safely retreat and move past enemy sightlines to reach teammates in need. Moira's ultimate, Coalescence, is extremely effective at pushing and defending her team's barricade, simultaneously healing her allies and damaging foes along the map's choke points and straight paths.

Alternative Tanks

Sigma: Sigma works well as an alternative Tank in Esperança. Like Reinhardt, he can efficiently cover his team in long, narrow pathways with his mobile Experimental Barrier and Kinetic Grasp. Accretion and Gravitic Flux are also powerful disruptive abilities when used along choke points and cramped spaces.
Winston: Winston is great alternative Tank for aggressive team compositions. Jump Pack is an excellent skill in Esperança, letting Winston access high flanking routes and leap toward crucial backline targets and teammates in need. Tesla Cannon and Primal Rage are also potent when fighting along the map's narrow pathways and choke points.
Wrecking Ball: Wrecking Ball is another excellent offense-oriented tank, capable of quickly maneuvering through the map's long streets and disrupting enemy positioning with his Roll and Grappling Hook. Esperança also has a plethora of high flanking routes that allows Wrecking Ball to set up and land Piledriver from unexpected angles. Lastly, his Minefield is an excellent area denial tool when used near the barricade and along choke points.

Alternative Damage

Hanzo: Hanzo is a potent alternative marksman in Esperança. Reaching the map's vantage points and long sightlines with Wall Climb, he can pick off crucial enemy targets with Storm Bow headshots and clear out grouped-up teams with Dragonstrike. Sonic Arrow is also a strong utility tool, giving him and his teammates crucial information about the enemy's positioning behind walls and around corners.
Reaper: Reaper is another strong Damage pick in Esperança. The map has plenty of buildings that overlook narrow streets, which Reaper can reach with Shadow Step to use as flanking positions. In addition, Esperança's cramped map layout allows Reaper to have an easier time positioning and dealing damage with his Hellfire Shotguns and Death Blossom.
Genji and Tracer: Both Genji and Tracer are potent alternative flankers in Esperança due to their excellent mobility and evasive capability. Tracer offers more single-target burst damage with her Pulse Pistols and Pulse Bomb, while Genji can take on groups of foes with Swift Strike and Dragonblade.

Alternative Supports

Ana: Esperança's vantage points and long sightlines allow Ana to reliably support her team up close and afar with her Biotic Rifle and Sleep Dart. Biotic Grenade and Nano Boost are also potent skills that can turn the tide of team fights along the map's tight corners and choke points.
Brigitte: Brigitte is an excellent alternative Support for aggressive teams in Esperança. She can reliably follow and assist Damage Heroes in the frontline with Rocket Flail and Inspire, as well as protect her allies and push away threats in tight choke points with Barrier Shield and Whip Shot. Rally is also a strong ultimate for pushing and defending barricades, allowing Brigitte to move around faster while providing temporary health to her allies.
